What a trip

. First 30 minutes are kind of slow but after that it really takes off. Just one of those bizarre movies that you would have never imagined by yourself. They also managed to cram in quite a few celebrity cameos(Charlie Sheen, Sean Pen, Brad Pitt, etc.) on top of the main cast.
Really great acting as well John Cusack and Cameron Diaz really pulled their characters off well and John Malkovich did an amazing job.
I noticed the DVD is in your sales thread. No repeat viewing later on? If you end up selling and decide on buying the movie again, get the Criterion version with cleaner video and additional footage.
SNL Collection Best Of Ferrell Farley Sandler Murphy Belushi - $5.00 BookOff
NBC put out "Best Of" DVD of select comedians from Saturday Night Live. Turns out most of the skits are the bottom of the barrel with only one or two standouts.
DO NOT BUY BEST OF SERIES UNLESS YOU CAN GET IT ON THE CHEAP!
NBC really did not preserve the comic genius of each comedian by only offering one or two funny episodes and the rest boring filler material. This made worse by the same material repeated on the different "best of" DVDs. Even when the DVDs were rereleased with a few extra episodes, many of the best funniest episodes were not included. Except for maybe one big guy (no not Belushi) which is listed further down.

Okay for only five bucks there are a few very funny episodes including this guy:
Not Belushi's best Samurai episode, but each of the DVDs also offer insight with extra footage. The Samurai character was inspired by Belushi watching Kurosawa movies and mimicking at home; his wife suggested taking it to the SNL studio.
Besides the very few funny episodes and the insight special features I almost was ready to sell the movie back to BookOff for a buck so it would have been a four dollar rental. I popped in the last disc which was the
Best of Chris Farley and wow! Watch
The Motivational Speaker somehow (google YouTube) episode with Phil Hartman. This first premier on the SNL take is the best and THE one to watch, so spontaneous and funny and with the other actors on stage trying to hide their laughs even more hilarious! This one single episode alone is worth keeping the set! Farley repeated the character on the Conan Obrien show which is also on the same DVD under the Extras section.
David Spade wrote:The character is, as Farley explains, 35 years old, divorced, and "living in a van down by the river." The line has lived on, even though Farley died in 1997 at the age of 33. David Spade, who is lectured by Farley in the skit, cannot keep it together. The former cast member recalled that Farley surprised him by hitching and twisting his belt during the sketch. "He saved that for the live performance, and so none of us had ever seen it. He knew that would break me."
I really would like all of Belushi Samurai or Will Ferrrell Jeopardy episodes on one or two DVDs. Sadly having to create my own DVDR might be the only option.
SNL Complete Second Season - $15.00 BookOff
The series are averaging twelve bucks before shipping at Amazon. Okay this is sooo much better then the "best of" series above, no scene cuts and ALL the episodes (reported except for the commercial parodies) in this collection. 22 seasons at 90 minutes apiece, plenty of memories to rediscover! I really hope the Joe Cocker concert in this set has Belushi doing the duet cameo. I remember it was so funny and the song they sang came out sounding great between the laughter. Hope to see many more Samurai routines including Samurai Tailor and of course the original cast Weekend updates.
A nice box set with a nice something extra many home video today are lacking. A beautiful multi-page book!
