Who's got Aonuma's email?MrPopo wrote:So here's my idea for a Zelda Zelda game. It's a prequel to the original LoZ; Ganon shows up but no Hero is to be found. So Zelda, having a strong sense of justice, sets out to defeat him to save her kingdom. However, first she must travel to eight dungeons to hide shards of the Triforce of Wisdom as an insurance policy. That task complete she travels to Death Mountain to confront Ganon. Though she is able to defeat him initially he starts to use his invisibility powers and lacking the ability to dispel them she is captured. Credits cut to Link meeting up with Impa as the NES theme plays.

Shantae games - so good you'll think they're Japanese!prfsnl_gmr wrote:WayForward is based in California; so, I am not sure that localization is necessary!TEKTORO wrote:Yup thanks to Xseed for localization
Oh, and I just typed in "Shantae" on Amazon to see if the game is available for pre-order. It is. Hilarious to see $30 copies of Half-Genie Hero with a $350 listing for the original game underneath.

Man...I sold my duplicate copy years and years ago for $75. It had some label damage, but I guess I should have held onto it. (Or not...I used all of the proceeds to but more video games!)BoneSnapDeez wrote:Shantae games - so good you'll think they're Japanese!prfsnl_gmr wrote:WayForward is based in California; so, I am not sure that localization is necessary!TEKTORO wrote:Yup thanks to Xseed for localization

EDIT: Also, the original game is good, but not mind-blowing. The sequel, however, is fantastic, and so far at least, Pirate's Curse is even better.

Dragon Quest VII. September 16th. I will be there.
Re: E3 2016
I haven't been paying much attention to E3 this year, especially since the most modern consoles I own are a PS2 and a GameCube.
I was happy to see a clip of some new Last Guardian footage though. As someone who has long been obsessed with Shadow of the Colossus, I have been looking forward to The Last Guardian ever since it was first announced. Remember when it was going to be an early PS3 exclusive all those years ago? I almost bought a PS3 just to be ready for it!
Now we are like halfway into the PS4's life cycle and they are already talking about the PS4 Neo as Last Guardian finally gets a release date!
Speaking of, when other people heard about the PS4 Neo and the XboxOne Scorpio, did you imagine them looking something like this?

Not really, since they're just going to be newer/faster/still compatible models. Like an iPhone 6S is to an iPhone 5.J T wrote: Speaking of, when other people imagine the PS4 Neo or the XboxOne Scorpio, do you imagine them looking something like this?
But...Penny Arcade did a comic along those lines as soon as it was rumored, Arstechnica has a 32X on an Xbox One pic they've used in articles about it, etc. So...someone sure has

Sega's stream was most disappointing, but hey we're getting Yakuza 0 next year!

Re: E3 2016
They showed off some dungeons later on (or a "shrine"). I wasn't all that impressed. They looked cool, but kind of like minor distractions. They weren't really elaborate and totally different in design (at the end of one of them, the player stood up where they got some key item and looked down on the whole dungeon from above, like Minecraft-ish in design or something. I can't explain it).Exhuminator wrote:"Breath of the Wild's overworld is twelve times the size of Twilight Princess, series director Eiji Aonuma told a small crowd of press and Nintendo execs on the eve of E3"Forlorn Drifter wrote:The open world aspect makes me nervous though- how big are we talking?

With Breath of the Wild I have mixed thoughts for sure. I am happy to see Zelda returning to its open world roots, because if we all remember the original Zelda was open world... to a large extent. At the same time, open world has been a big thing for a long time now in console games and is sort of played out. Simply making Zelda an open world game in that context is not enough, and unless Nintendo really does something unique with the formula, it will just come off as them being embarrassingly late to the party. But knowing Nintendo, I'm betting their open world will still be very hand crafted and full of rewarding exploration. Looking forward to seeing some dungeon gameplay at this point.
Maybe it wasn't a "real" dungeon though. I have no idea.
Also some people on the stream pointed out the obvious that I didn't consider, there's more than likely going to be several towns and they just weren't ready to show them off yet or something. I think that'll be cool to see.
I was happy about that size comment, because while that sounds pretty expansive, it doesn't really sound overwhelming to me. I really hate when devs tout their game is X big and takes X hours of real time to traverse (super fun right?), and so I didn't really get that vibe from Nintendo here.
Overall I was kind of neutral on the whole showing, but I'm excited to play it myself.
