2. I'm pretty sure that any/all games I bought from PSN will not work on PS4, correct? Meaning the PS1 classics or the PS3 games?
Correct, they will not work, unless it is a "cross-buy" game that has a PS4 version. Like Journey.

3. How is the PS4 as a Blu-Ray/Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Video/Youtube player?
Fine, I'm not sure why you would have a stand-alone Roku or the like if you have a modern console. Also you can get a remote, if you prefer something like that.

4. What the F games would I actually want for this thing that I can't already play on PC to make it worth it?
Bloodborne, Uncharted, The Last of Us 1 and 2, The Last Guardian, Horizon Dawn.

5. No chance that the PSVR stuff would work with a Rift via Remote Play I take it? (I know MS has announced that they're working on making the Rift work with Xbox One streaming though...)
Doubt it.

My thought process is that I could see leaving it hooked up to a TV for use as a media player, but only actually playing the games at my PC.

It is, of course, subjective. I know you've mentioned Until Dawn, and there are the similar Quantic Dream PS3 games that have been ported and Detroit: Become Human on the way. Naughty Dog's recent series, maybe things like The Last Guardian or Gravity Rush...perhaps not Bloodborne based on your Dark Souls experience, but it's still a good game =P Horizon: Zero Dawn is looking good too. Sony did just have their show, so you could peruse the announcements - new Marvel vs Capcom might be exclusive?

A lot of those PS3 games are already playable on PC via PS Now though.

Until Dawn and Last Guardian I can see as selling points.

MvC Infinite has been announced for PC already, though.

Closest I can think of is that I think the PSVR can be used a "personal cinema" for pretty much anything that uses HDMI.

No no, I'm asking the opposite. Could I play PSVR games on my Rift? (I doubt it).

Perhaps, though probably not at the same level of quality that the HD remasters would be (plus some, like the original Uncharted got updated/improved when ported). Playing them locally is also just simpler.

I assume Capcom got a similar deal as they did for Street Fighter V then. Still, possibly a nice way to play on the couch.

I doubt it as well. Haven't seen anything of the sort. It's more than just the video output it'd need to do too. PSVR has a "processing unit" that handles stuff like audio.

If you're not in it for the collecting and have a powerful PC, I'd suggest you just do Playstation Now on your PC. I don't know if every PS4 game is on there, but I'm pretty sure that most of the really good ones that you NEED to play are.

Since most people I know IRL aren't PC savvy and/or won't spend the initial amount necessary for a good rig, my Xbone and PS4 are my main tools for combining my love of gaming with my ability to socialize with buddies near and far.

A stout PC would logically make more sense for me in a pure gaming aspect, but some of my best BS-ing and hard drinking sessions have happened with my console headsets attached to me. It's a decent compromise that lets me keep up on current gaming - otherwise I'd be running a SNES or a DC in solo mode for most gaming sessions.

actually no PS4 games are on PSNow yet. Just PS3 games. I've been using the service for a while now. And now that the kinks seem to be worked out, it's pretty nice. I'd love if they brought PS1/2/4 games to the service as well.

Tried streaming to my PC when I was home for lunch, which ended up amounting to playing Bloodborne for a few minutes.

Of note, a regular PS4 is limited to 540p (Vita screen res) or 720p streams - 1080p is an option in the client, but is only supported by the PS4 Pro. Video quality ends up being okay, but a bit soft when scaled to the monitor, and I noticed some banding that could be due to compression (it didn't get super blocky or anything, though tests on Youtube showed it can on Wifi). That said, framerate was fine and the game felt right. I'm sure there's some additional latency, but it's fairly minimal.

thanks for testing!

Well, at least I know it's a viable option. I'd just need to find some compelling reason (games) to consider owning one. No rush there.

IIRC, for the Vita's Remote Play streaming, the standard PS4 can stream 720p but the PS4 Pro supports 1080p streaming. I've never tested it, and that's based purely on memory, but I think I remember reading something about that when the PS4 Pro launched.
