Some of you guys that are regulars in this thread, are in complete denial if you really think you don't act like jackholes when people bring up bands or sub-genres you don't consider "metal enough". It happens on a pretty regular basis. Someone brings up Deftones and people start bitching about talking about Nu-Metal. All I'm saying through all of this is that it's all metal and metal has a bad enough image to lot a people as it is that we don't have to do it to each other.
"Jackholes?" sure, probably. Honestly it doesn't ever get much worse than a snide comment or two, and everyone just moves on. If that really bothers you that much, I don't know what to tell you. Grow thicker skin?
Hell when Deftones got brought up earlier we had a couple of regulars straight up say they liked them. You might get a bit of ribbing, but it's not like we're gonna lynch you for liking the "wrong" band or something.
Frankly, you would get a LOT more shit in here if you start going on about how much you love especially offensive NSBM or something than you ever will bringing up Nu Metal.
Lastly, I can honestly say that I really don't care what the "image" of metal is to the general public, and even if I did, it's not likely that a thread on a retro gaming forum not making pity remarks would change their minds.

Also, I don't think anybody is bashing anybody's musical taste. I listen to a wide range of music from rock, to electronic to metal and all it's sub genres, except this
christian black metal . Yeah screw that crap. I lol at the guy at the end, he hits the nail on the coffin. It's like a jewish person giving the hail hitler salute. The whole genre is an oxymoron. Hell, most of these bands use corpse paint which is originality intended to be a defiance of god and the christian black metal band members are using them....what?
I ran into a guy I knew in high school who'd suddenly gotten really into that stuff. Some of the bands are actually alright, but yeah, it's hard to dodge how that whole thing feels like a giant joke. Doesn't help that a lot of black metal these days in general is bordering self-parody anyway.
