I'v been wanting to try Super Mario Galaxy, from what i'v seen of it, it looks fun as hell. But 20 bucks isn't cheap...20 bucks is usually all I have to spend on games, so I would rather walk away with a stack of games then a single game. Maybe if some fool is selling it for 5 bucks or I happen to have some extra cash...till then I'm not getting it.

I'm trying to give the DS a chance but it's hard...I really come across some shit piles when looking for DS games. The Wii...some games are fun on it but the motion control is just a deal breaker for me...I'll never get over it so it ruins the system for me.

Where are you looking for games? If it's thrift stores, pawn shops, and yard sales, it's pretty much a crapshoot, as you're going to run into more shovelware than quality games. At least in my neck of the woods, the thrift stores have dried up when it comes to games and systems, and the pawn shops are a mixed bag. That, and the independent game shops here overcharge for a lot of games. I'm with you in that I prefer to spend as little on possible on games. I don't like to spend more than $20 at once, but at least consider spending the full price. It is worth it.

I don't necessarily agree with your opinion on the Wii, but I do understand where you're coming from. I recently bought a Playstation console for the first time. There's a lot I don't like about the controller. It feels small in my hand, I don't like the space in the middle of the D-Pad, and the analog sticks don't feel tight enough for my liking. That said, those problems go away once I got into the games. I would've missed out on the Sly and Ratchet & Clank series if I didn't look past it. Even on the Wii, there are some instances where the motion control is annoying, but the games as a whole are worth it. All I am getting at is to try to not let something like motion controls get in the way of experiencing an entire library.

@oxymoron: Apologies for the topic detour. What launch games were you looking into?

._. I hate putting a thread off topic but if people keep asking me stuff...

Pretty much what you just said, thrift stores and yard sales are my main go to for games. Pawn shops only when I have enough cash/around the holidays because they usually have good deals on DVD's and some games...buy 3 get one free kinda thing...good way to stock up on good movies btw. And I hit the flea market near us as often as I can which isn't very often since I don't drive and have to rely on my parents wanting to go there as well..and they hate the flea market..

Unless its a hard to find game/one i'v been wanting for a long time/new game I never pay full price..I really can't afford to do that any more. A few years ago I could but now...I have to keep track of my pennys ffs.

That being said...I think online is where I need to look now. I pretty much strike out if i'm looking for anything that isn't Xbox and the odd PS2/PS3 game...and tons of sports games. Because that's all I usually find. So...wheres the best place to go for good deals online?

Hm, the PS1 controler is tiny...but the PS2 controller has to be one of my favs. Then again I most likely have smaller hands then everyone here lol! That's what I mean about uncomfortable controllers...I have small hands (since i'm a woman...though I have seen some guys with small hands..hm) so some controllers that guys can handle with ease feel to big for me. I do hear you on the d-pad space, and I think some sticks can be loose after wear so that might be your issue, mine feel tight. But if your used to another type of controller then I could see how it might feel loose to you.

Oh and one more thing on uncomfortable controllers, I dislike the NES controller. It hurts my hands after a while...the SNES was much better making a rounded controller to fit hands better. But the Genesis controller...ick another example of too big.

Try out the NES dogbone controller and the Genesis 6-button pad. Both are smaller and far more comfy than the regular pads. I thought the Dogbone was going to be TOO small when I first saw one, but after playing a game with it for a bit I realized that it's actually really really comfy.

I didn't know NES had a dogbone!!!! FFF I must have this >.>...

Oh and I was talking about the 6-button one...it's really akward for me...so is the normal one. Maybe its the button layout as well...

Off Topic:
Yeah, you really can't discount a controller until you've tried it. The Wii-U's controller looked really odd to me, so I went to a Best Buy to try it out and it was actually quite comfortable. None of the games seem to push the touch screen in any way that seems unnatural (at least not the ones I've tried thus far). Same goes for the DS for me. Took me forever to actually try one because I wasn't keen on 2 screens and having to touch one of them, but after I got my hands on a few games it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Wii waggle controls? Different story...

On Topic:
I'll be holding on the PS4 for more games to launch, but I will be picking it up over the Xbone because Playstation usually has more titles that I'm interested in. I also prefer PS+ over Xbox Live. The only reason I'm putting it off is because Nintendo has all my money this year (never thought I'd say that). With all the titles coming out over the next few months, I'll be picking up both a 3DS XL (black) and a Wii-U.

Do you think there are going to the technical problems for the PS4 in the beginning?

Im saying yes... but just because it looks really small compared to the PS3. I think it could have overheating problems... but thats just me.

I actually don't think this thing is going to have overheating issues, the target operating temperatures for it (Says Sony) are in the 35C range. Which is pretty low for chip operation. For contrast, the PS3 was designed to operate at like 55C. They started having overheating issues around 60C.

It's quite unlikely that the PS4 will be getting up to 60C unless under extreme conditions.

A friend of mine wants me to get a PS4. I don't think I really need one. But to humor him, I've got a few questions:

1. How is PS4-PC Remote Play streaming? Like, could I basically just never touch the PS4 if I wanted to just have it hooked up to my home network but just play the PS4 games on my PC? How well does it worked (wired on both ends) and how does it look?

2. I'm pretty sure that any/all games I bought from PSN will not work on PS4, correct? Meaning the PS1 classics or the PS3 games?

3. How is the PS4 as a Blu-Ray/Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Video/Youtube player?

4. What the F games would I actually want for this thing that I can't already play on PC to make it worth it?

5. No chance that the PSVR stuff would work with a Rift via Remote Play I take it? (I know MS has announced that they're working on making the Rift work with Xbox One streaming though...)

Like I said, I probably really don't want one. But at least if I know a bit more than I'll have concrete reasons other than "I don't need a console."

I haven't tried streaming to PC. Streaming to a Vita works nicely though, and some developers actually have Vita-specific controls. Unless you were all digital you'd probably want the console to be somewhat accessible. The system was built to stream (probably with Twitch style streaming more in mind, but still). It has a low power CPU, RAM, and hardware video transcoder to facilitate it.

2. I'm pretty sure that any/all games I bought from PSN will not work on PS4, correct? Meaning the PS1 classics or the PS3 games?

Correct. None of the old stuff will run.

3. How is the PS4 as a Blu-Ray/Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Video/Youtube player?

On release it was somewhat lackluster, and unlike the PS3, even the "official" media remote is a licensed third party product. Sony differentiated themselves from MS by putting the focus on games, and it's still the case (no 4k Ultra Blu-ray in the PS4 Pro, etc). It does do a solid job with what's actually there though.

4. What the F games would I actually want for this thing that I can't already play on PC to make it worth it?

It is, of course, subjective. I know you've mentioned Until Dawn, and there are the similar Quantic Dream PS3 games that have been ported and Detroit: Become Human on the way. Naughty Dog's recent series, maybe things like The Last Guardian or Gravity Rush...perhaps not Bloodborne based on your Dark Souls experience, but it's still a good game =P Horizon: Zero Dawn is looking good too. Sony did just have their show, so you could peruse the announcements - new Marvel vs Capcom might be exclusive?

Really plenty of first-party stuff, and typically the best console versions if you want a game on that instead. Sometimes things are different - the console version of Diablo III is somewhat distinct from the PC one, comparable to Gauntlet Legends and very couch-coopable.

5. No chance that the PSVR stuff would work with a Rift via Remote Play I take it? (I know MS has announced that they're working on making the Rift work with Xbox One streaming though...)

Closest I can think of is that I think the PSVR can be used a "personal cinema" for pretty much anything that uses HDMI.

Like I said, I probably really don't want one. But at least if I know a bit more than I'll have concrete reasons other than "I don't need a console."

Well, being fair, it's a nice console, and it's now well past the launch window so there's a good selection of solid sub-$20 games.
