New Members: Introduce Yourself!

Post by TigerUppercut »

My name is Giovanni Ramos, visited many times but new as a member.
Nintendo is my first choice just for their "official" development and production.
Sega was definitely ahead of it's time for many reasons. One, the software creativity along with console processing. Each system Sega released I recognized as a quality effort as far
as marketing is concerned. I can remember as a kid, quote me on this:

"Somehow although amazingly fast, racing to collect rings as sonic(sega) was no where near as entertaining as hitting yoshi(snes) in the back of the head to swallow a coin."

Nintendo always does their homework, Atari was my first "console system" so now that their out of the hardware business Nintendo to me, is the grandfather to Sony and Microsoft. Look at Kinect and Move. Eerie how similar they are to the Wii. Respect your elders!

Hello everybody. My name is Gary, I'm 32 (in a couple of weeks) and been gaming since I can remember. I fell out of gaming after the N64 and so now, my goal is to go back system by system and play all the great games I missed out on. I'm starting with the Dreamcast and my wife and kids are very grateful for it. That thing is a freaking party or game-night dream! I have 3 kids who absolutely love gaming, their favorites are the Lego series, anything Mario Kart, Pac-Man vs the World, Chu Chu Rocket, and Marvel vs Capcom 2. I was also lucky enough to marry the perfect woman, not only does she collect comics and play M:TG like myself, but she's recently picked up the gaming bug big time! She has fallen in love with Zelda and Final Fantasy, and we've also been playing Rift together and she loves it.

My other interests are comics (Batman, Daredevil, and Chapel from Image being my personal favorites), martial arts (I practice Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), and playing other games at home like M:TG, FLUX, and Mind Trap. I'm an avid sports fan and I live and die with the OU Sooners and the Yankees. My grandfather was born in the same town as Mickey Mantle so I grew up with stories about him and the Yankees. Recently I've become quite interested in the case modding community and am about to start my first mod, a simple paint job for my Dreamcast. I am also in the process of creating a blog to document my retro gaming mission as I play my way through the different systems.

Anyways, that's me, sorry for the long post. I just want to add that this site has been a great tool for my hobby already, and the people I've heard from have been very friendly and extremely helpful. I hope I can add something to this community and make it an even better place.
Beware the wombats...

Playing:
PC: The Witcher
GCN: Zelda: The Wind Waker
360: Assassin's Creed 2
PS3: 3D Dot Game Heroes

Welcome to all, and to the previous poster, we have very similar histories, ie dropping out after the N64,...and having our kids excited to have us now finding such glorious consoles as DC amongst others. Welcome to this superb forum!

Haven't introduced myself, but I have been posting a bit. I discovered Racketboy a while ago, and I really appreciate the Defining Games articles. I couldn't read another "Just got an N64, what games should I get" thread that are on every videogame forum on the interwebs.

Anyway, I used to be a regular forum poster and occasional vintage game reviewer at netjak.com back in the day. I got into gaming like so many others during the late 80s and was a Nintendo fanboy for a while. Missed out on some great titles along the way, but I've dropped the fanboyism while maintaining a deep appreciation for first party Nintendo games.

Gaming slowly dropped off during the PS2/GC/XBOX time, but I still go through spurts of gaming where I will break out my Wii or some vintage system and go to town for while. I am on one of those phases right now, so if I stop posting for a while, you'll know what happened, haha.

I appreciate the welcoming, warm atmosphere of these forums. Thanks!

Didn't notice this thread at first!

New member here, and after a small "gaming hiatus" in which my favorite consoles went completely unused, the prospect of getting a Dreamcast from my friend and emulating PS1 games to which I have the actual CD-ROM have propelled me back into gaming, especially retro gaming.

I've been called a Nintendo fanboy, and I guess I am, they're my favorite hardware company with a tie between Sony and Sega for second place.

Currently own: Wii, Gamecube, Gameboy Color, Nintendo DSL and Snes.

I've also played the hell out of N64, PS2, X-Box and GBA, just don't have them at the moment due to monetary problems, malfunctions and relatives selling their junk on Ebay instead of to me...

I often feel I'm the only person my age(14) around these parts(SC) who knows the worth of games prior to Gen 6.

My favorite genre is Platformer, followed by Adventure, Action RPG and Fighting. I play just about everything though.

I'm a kid who grew up with a GC and a SNES beside one another.

Love the articles on this site too, really helpful stuff!
(Now I will read other introduction posts...)
Current Consoles: SNES, GBC, Game Cube, Nintendo DSL, Wii, N64, PS2
