You go into any video rental place, Blockbuster included, and you could find tons of used cartridges for sale. Our local used music shop sold used games. And FuncoLand was a HUGE chain that sold used games (and for cheap!), that is until Gamestop bought them out.

Who said that?

Not picking on you, I just rushed through the last few pages (been out of town for a week...), and I didn't notice anyone insinuate that, but I glossed over a lot.

I think he posted this in the wrong thread.

Indeed :D Though tbh, I probably spend more time with games that can't really be beaten (e.g. Galaga) than with ones that can.

Technically my first time playing Invisible War on the PC, with a nice texture update pack and a widescreen fix. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to hide the games obvious grating issues, loading screens just about every 5-10 minutes everywhere, very tight level design and the game only took me 9 hours to complete when I wasn't even rushing and it crashed on me 3 or 4 times.

I was inspired to play it again after finishing up the new game Human Revolution. For awhile I was thinking IW would turn out better actually, but playing them back to back... HR was definitely a bit too Japanese influenced for my tastes (for a Deus Ex game), but it was like three times as long as IW, had much better gameplay and level design, and the atmosphere was definitely better. The writing and dialogue in IW still felt more like the original Deus Ex for the most part, but the time leap still doesn't sit too well for me. It's just too sci-fi and by the end of the game, the plot just kind of dwindled into fanfiction. So they're both not perfect in my eyes (not that I'm trying too hard to measure them up to the original, lol), but yeah. I guess I can give HR the nod.

Totally worth the replay though and I don't think the game is terrible like most, but yeah. Obviously pretty flawed.

hm. i seem to have gotten behind again. here's the recap:

big brain academy: i was a big fan of brain age, and this was a good complementary title with a distinct feel.

pokemon pearl: i'm starting to feel like pokemon is one of those "every other one is good" series. i was so bored with this that i really couldn't bring myself to finish it. have started to play B/W and can already tell that i'm going to enjoy that one way more.

tennis (NES): not as terrible as people who have only played it for a few minutes say, and on the lower levels is actually quite enjoyable. the higher levels are punishingly difficult, though, and require way too much memorization of the game's physics. old-school hard that just doesn't hold up today.

warioware.: mega party game$: as a solo-player game doesn't offer much new, but it was fun to revisit all the original microgames on a full screen. multiplayer is a bit of a mixed bag but could be fun with fellow WW enthusiasts.

face raiders: enjoyable, and as an AR game it makes good use of the 3DS's gyroscope. good amount of enemy variety, just the right length, and doesn't overstay its welcome.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on Killzone: Liberation, I've got it, but haven't been motivated to play yet.

I can give you my opinion, since I've played it as well. It's boring and generic. Much less fun than Killzone 2 or 3. Plays like one of those lame old Army Men PS1 games.

I've played and would recommend you give it a try. I liked the isometric view and gameplay a lot, it reminded me a little of the first MGS. Definitely glad they went with that than trying to make an FPS work without the second analogue stick.

Oh man this game is so terrible. I remember playing the heck out of it when I was a kid and I just did a run through with my buddy and loved every moment. But seriously this game and the sounds in this game ... so bad.

Thanks for the tips on Killzone, even though they were completely opposite. :P I'll have to just play it and see what I think.

I couldn't disagree with your assessment more. It is one of the best first party PSP games available.

I actually really enjoyed Killzone: Liberation. It's one of my favorite handheld games of all time for sure.

The isometric view made it feel a bit like a dungeon crawler, but the tactical shooting kept it from becoming dull. The various different weapons found in each level were very fun to use. I found myself sticking with the Helghast chain gun near the end though.

It was definitely a challenging game, and I did die a lot. One boss in particular kicked my ass for almost an hour before I finally got him. It was very rewarding to finally beat this game.

In case anyone was wondering, I did find a link to download the fifth chapter of the game. Apparently it was a DLC only chapter, and was eventually taken down after a couple of years. Since the game was part of the Playstation Welcome Back program the DLC was released again, although the methods to getting it are a bit more complicated than they should be. Nothing crazy though. Here's the link for anyone who is interested in completing the game's final chapter.
