I am one of the few people who will say "Pit Fighter on the Genesis isn't that bad".

Sonic and Knuckles...no like. There are loops and such, but it doesn't seem "Sonic" at all. People who like this game but complain about the Labyrinth zone in the original...well, I 'l never understand them. This game is tedious, provides very little fun, and going out of your way to find special zones just doesn't mix with the previous Sonic games.

Soundtrack stinks too.

Yours,

negative Nancy

lol, this does seem to be one of the most negative Together Retro threads, that I've ever seen at least. And classic Sonic Genesis stuff of all things.

It's proof that all the Sega fans realize Sega wasn't as good as Nintendo.

It's the re-writing of history man, all part of the massive conspiracy to make people believe the Super Nintendo was the only 16-bit system. First they came for the Turbografx-16 fans and carried them off to the Big N re-education camps and we did nothing, now they're coming for us. Open your eyes sheeple! The New Nintendo World Order is here!

Well, it's a good thing I'm finally making this post

I likely won't be playing this month, but that's okay since I've played this game (along with the other Genesis Sonic games) enough times for a replay to not be necessary. I love this game, and I love that little blue hedgehog. Every single little thing about Sonic (3) & Knuckles is fantastic. The graphics, while not the most technically impressive on the Genesis, are very aesthetically pleasing, the gameplay presses all the right buttons for me, and that music... God damn, I love that music. As much as I love the rest of the game, that music just lifts my heart and brings me tremendous amounts of joy. I cannot count the amount of times I've felt my spirit ascend when the Sky Sanctuary Zone's theme plays in my head or I've had the final boss theme play when I see an imposing character in a comic, movie, or even another game. Also, I've listened to an extended loop of the invincibility theme an (almost) embarrassing amount of times. If I had any decent writing skills, I'd be able to write a book the size of The Hobbit on why I love this game and its prequels.

*sigh*
...Excuse me.
*goes off and hugs Sonic plushie*

Yes, well, jokes aside the internet collectively shits on all things Sonic, and even this forum has never really been an exception, as fair as it tends to be otherwise.

I don't think I've ever had a Sonic related conversation of any nature here where someone didn't eventually pop in saying how this or that game sucks, or how the entire franchise sucks and everyone who likes it simply must be running on nostalgia, or how Sega should kill off the entire thing.

Which is minor compared to anywhere else. Even dedicated Sonic fan sites are filled to the brim with people bitching incessantly.

The constant negativity is tiresome. :?

The funny thing with that is that I've always kind of compared Sonic and Megaman in my mind. Two of my favorite old franchises that I like to revisit and due to the game lengths, you can never just replay one... I always binge and go through all of them if I can.

I don't think this is true at all. Classic Sonic appears on the Games Beaten list often and Sonic Generations is very popular around the forum. People here generally love Sonic 1, 2 and CD aswell, although obviously you'll get people who are less fond of them. It's definitely Sonic 3 & Knuckles that's divisive here, not Sonic & Knuckles.

Also, people don't like the game, that's fine. It's definitely easily my least favourite of the Mega Drive Sonic games too, even if I actually quite like it. As a massive Zelda fan, I don't let it get to me when people on the forum express their dislike of Ocarina of Time or Skyward Sword, two of my favourites in the series. It's just their opinion.

Anyhow, I finished up my Tails run today - Super Tails is very fun, but one thing I don't like about Sonic 3 & Knuckles is how little time you get to enjoy your transformations - even with the best possibilities, it feels like you super form is taken away too quickly (and of course, you don't get it at all in Sonic 3 as Tails) and again it feels like you don't get much of a chance to enjoy the hyper form either.

I imagine it's worse for Knuckles, as his game is shorter overall, right? I guess I'll find out next weekend, because I'm going to finish the game as Hyper Knuckles so I've finally completed the game 100%.
