Doesn't sound like it. It's one physical screen to save money. The pouch they're releasing with it will probably protect the screens fine, though.EvilRyu2099 wrote:I wonder if they could have made a version that flips, protecting the screen.. Making designed for people with larger hands is a plus though..

Is the 2DS a soon to be collectors item similar to the GB Micro?

I haven't read up about the system really but this pouch does out actually come with the system or is it sold separately?Cronozilla wrote:Doesn't sound like it. I doubt it.oxymoron wrote:Is the 2DS a soon to be collectors item similar to the GB Micro?
The Micro was an end of life final push kind of thing for the GBA. It also came out after the DS was already established.
The Micro was also sleek and appealing to look at, and the 2ds, while not bad, seems more on the clunky end of the spectrum.

I worked in retail for 5+ years before this, so I get it. 2DS will confuse the hell out of parents, but do you really think the names you guys are coming up with are any better? Those names will confuse the parents as well.
The names similar to "3DSp" or "3DS Tablet" are just as confusing as 2DS. We would have tons of parents returning the item because they thought it could play "3D" since it's right in the name. 2DS isn't that great of a name, but at least it makes the point to say "It doesn't play in 3D". At this point, we will need to settle with giant stickers saying "Also Compatible With". Of course some people won't read those stickers and still ask associates, but it's better than nothing.
The uproar about this console baffles me. Why do so many people care about a game console targeted to kids and lower-income families? Instead of a kid not being able to play the latest Pokemon games, now s/he can get a new console and games for xmas this year.
Not being able to fold isn't a big deal, in-fact it's a great idea seeing that this is targeted for kids. Having 5 little brothers, I've seen what they can do to hinges. Laptops, DS's, GBA SPs have all been destroyed and usually it's the hinges, and not the screen.

They should also have a giant sticker that say "recommended for ages 5 and up". That would help parents out a lot. I feel you on the hinge thing but flat screens are always a scratch magnet. One example is the GBA.

... Because the screen was protected while it was closed. How scuffed up were the outsides of these things? half of those scratches would be on the screen if they didn't close. When you drop a clamshell device on a corner, you have a 50% chance of it being a hinge.jinx wrote:Not being able to fold isn't a big deal, in-fact it's a great idea seeing that this is targeted for kids.
