Good idea about rewatching stuff. Try to pick something that's very basic, like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Inazuma Eleven, One Piece, etc.
Hey, first time learners! This week's Japanese vocabulary word is "nakama"! For that matter, so is next week's! The week after, too! Also the week after that one! Actually, we're going to be studying "nakama" for a really long time--possibly forever--so go ahead and get comfortable with learning it now.
Ai donto noo watto yuu aa seingu. Wai izu za waado obu za uiiku nakama? ;)

Nakama is fine but I'm sure in anime they use mikata just as much (haven't watched anime in long time).

Oh, come on you guys, Japanese isn't hard at all. Listen: watashi wa ninja desu. See? I've only been studying 2 years, yet I can already express profound concepts in detail!

Not hard to start or become decently fluent/conversational but, rather difficult to become natively fluent. It is in the top 3 of the hardest languages in the world (Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic).

Yeah, I was kidding about it being easy.

I'd never heard that Arabic was that difficult. Must be very inconvenient for non-Arabic speaking Muslim converts, considering that Muslims believe it's wrong to translate the Koran out of it's native Arabic.

Oh there are plenty of languages that trump this. Heck, if you include Hiragana and Kataakana, Japanese is about as hard as Korean. (Neither are easy, but for English speakers, 'kana and 'gana and Korean Hangul are closer to "letters" than kanji and hanja -- those Chinese hieroglyphs.)

By the way, that last part, isn't meant to be spiteful. Due to its age, the Chinese characters are essentially hieroglyphic as I could say any of the Persian languages or Urdu. And let's not forget trying how to speak conversational Russian.
CD AGES wrote:Flamepanther is right on the money! He noticed that my list only included multiplatform titles that were superior to it's PS1 counterpart. That's why I didn't mentioned ports that were about the same in terms of arcade accuracy between both both platforms (Marvel Super heroes, MK trilogy etc)
So Herc's Adventures on the SS is worth it over its PSX version?

My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

:?:

Neither Persian (Farsi?) nor Urdu are hieroglyphic. Technically, neither is Chinese. The characters are properly logograms. And as someone who actually is learning Russian, I don't find conversational Russian to be difficult, just a pain due to the many syllables in their words and their odd vowels - vowels more difficult than anything I've encountered in other languages I've studied, and that goes for 으 and 의. So, maybe that is difficult! But grammatically, not so bad.

IIRC, it's known within the linguistics studies that those are the top 3. I'll find a link later~

I was referring to One Piece specifically, hence why I bolded it in the quote :)

たいへんだいよ。。。。。ずるい。。。

I actually had to look up なかま。 I've never used it before, nor do I watch One Piece.
