This mindset was a success, even though I did end up spending on gaming this year. For the first half of the year I was tracking very carefully (to the penny!), got busy in the summer and while I still tracked all my acquisitions, I stopped with the running tab. I do continue to go through and sell-off items I'm not going to play to help offset these. I also hardly purchased any physical titles this year, PSN flash sales were my biggest kryptonite.
- Keep selling off what I won't play or games I dislike after finally sitting down to play. I'm targeting my PSP collection next.
Sold a good chunk of the PSP stuff and recently moved over to selling off my NGPC library. As i've gone through the previous generation's games (PS3 and Vita especially), I've loaded up any DLC and patches and also eliminated any duplication in my library (if I have the game in a collection for example). Unfortunately some titles lose so much value that it's better to just keep them (Resident Evil 5 Gold>hi) versus sell them for $6 and go through the hassle of shipping and fees.
- Play a lot and actually make a list of what I've played. Participate in the Games Beaten thread here, as well as the "What are you playing" thread to share my thoughts.
Well I contributed more to the Games NOT Beaten thread, BUT I did read the entire Games Beaten thread this year and followed it closely for the first time. Was definitely more active in the random gaming thoughts and what are you playing threads in addition to tracking everything in the games acquired thread.
- I tracked my collection previously with Collectorz and this past year went all-in at RFGen. I want to keep up with cultivating those lists - which include my digital eShop, PSN, XBLA libraries (surprising amount of titles just there).
As best I can, my RFGen collection is updated. It's hit or miss with every PSN title, especially when you get into PSOne games available on PSN. I did go through and add everything digitally to start the year.
This past year I set up a GOG account and made a lot of purchases. Due to time restraints (baby), my gaming is more geared towards quick hitters at the moment, but I would like to dive into some of the strategy and RPG games I grabbed.
I mean, I installed one or two but the only thing I did with my GOG account was grow it! Especially with all the gold box SSI AD&D games coming out. What a year for collecting there.
I used to set a goal of Together Retro but I'll only commit to the Mario Golf month, so anything else is a bonus!
I actually didn't play any Mario Golf that month but did participate with the Pinball Arcade month (getting the titles on iOS reinvigorated them for me) and am playing Raiden for December.
