Someone had to do it.
The last time I played a Battlefield regularly, it was 2142, and about half the time I spent trying to connect or crashing out of servers. So did all of my friends, and from what I read online, large swathes of the community. EA was not helpful, and they became known for their piss-poor customer service whenever someone contacted them over the issue.

So, years later, I see the problems have only gotten worse. Between this and SimCity 4, I'm glad someone is attempting to take them to task. However, it appears that this lawsuit is mainly from the investor side of the company.

I've been having a lot of trouble with BF4 myself ever since the December 16th patch. I can't advance past a certain checkpoint in the sixth level. Right now I'm working with tech support but so far nothing they've suggested has done a thing.

Whoa, are you like, from the future?!? Did you try to go all the way back to 1999 so you could play all the SNES games when they were fresh?

On topic: I had quite a bad experience with BF4 shortly after launch on the XB1 and I've been holding out for a patch that seems to address it before diving back in.

My thoughts on Ghosts:

Single-player: the story and characters are kind of mediocre. I probably won't remember the lead protagonists' names by next week but, damn, the levels were awesome. I might actually play the campaign again on a harder difficulty setting. If you're a person that only touches the single player modes, don't skip this game.

Multiplayer: oh boy...

I don't have any charts or excel spread sheets drawn up to prove this but I'd be willing to wager 98.5% of my deaths come from being shot in the back. Now I've read across the web and the general consensus seems to be that the spawn system is broken. I haven't played enough to agree with that- but it's plausible.

Weapons- I haven't really noticed anything in terms of "overpowered" weapons because if someone sneezes in your general direction you will die instantly.

So far the game is reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2... And I'm not too sure how I feel about that.

Can someone explain to me how the sat-com thingy works?

Spawn system isn't great, but is far from broken. Blops 2 had a far worse spawn system at launch (spawn zones were not 'contested' if enemies are nearby). Depending on your play style, the spawn system can be considered broken, I treat it like Hunger Games, the minute I hit the field I run for cover.

Sat com is a teamwork based radar system. Depending on if you are playing hardcore or standard, they have different effects:

Standard:
1 sat com: UAV ping, enemies will show up if they aren't running 'Off the grid' or if they are in a teammates line of sight
2 sat coms [running at the same time]: Faster refresh rate on the pings
3 sat coms: Advanced UAV, enemies will be displayed on radar in near realtime, and blips will be replaced with arrows indicating the direction they are facing.

In hardcore, you will need to place a initial sat com to bring up the map, so a total of 4 are required to achieve a Advanced UAV. I really like this mechanic, it requires your team to coordinate to achieve the greatest effect.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Played a bunch of BF4 last night and it was great! No lag or issues (other than I suck). Anyone else playing XB1 ver?

We should play sometime, I was playing all weekend, surprised you didn't ping me :P went from rank 1-5 over the course of about 6 hours :) What mode are you playing most often?

Sorry, seems like you were always playing Ghosts, wasn't sure you had BF4, I guess I could've asked! Nathan (Phades) and I have been playing mostly Conquest, even though we mostly played Rush last time out. I'll send you an invite (or text) you next time we're playing.

EDIT: Also, forgot to mention, that the latest build (Dec 20th) for XB1 seems super solid, so it's nice to see this game finally getting patched up.

Thanks for all the info, avrame. :)

I was getting kind of frustrated by getting shot in the back for the umpteenth time; so I started to mess around. I made a knife-only class and I was actually somewhat successful! The last match I was in I went 22-12. Not too shabby for just screwing around.

On an unrelated note, dog killstreak > tactical nuke.
