Worst/Least Favorite Final Fantasy Game?

Surprisingly close to my personal opinions! The middle of my list would look a tad different, but VI certainly belongs at the top and XIII at the bottom.

VI first and XIII last? Pretty safe list.

If you're going to make lists ranking things, at least grow a sac. Like this:

XII sucks. XIII is better than XII.

XIII-2 is better than XII, VIII and X.

XIII is only better than I, II, and III for me. It has some redeeming qualities, but it fails spectacularly in others which offsets the good.

The worst FF game IMO, is definitely 8 because of that junctioning/draw BS. Though it did give us Spoony's epic review of the game, which is worth a watch especially if you like the game, but in that case view it as like a roast I think he has probably gotten like a gazillion emails from fanboys complaining that his opinions are different from theirs.

Honestly from what I played of 13 though, it wasn't bad. Someone earlier mentioned that is kind of relaxing, and I would agree. It's a good RPG to just kind of veg out to, like if you played a really intense game you can just kind of chill

The only ones I have beaten are 4 and 7, so I am partial to those, but I really like what I have played of 6. I remember really liking 9 when I played it way back when, and got a few hours in, but then I got stuck and I haven't picked it up since. Someday I'll revisit it, but my backlog of other games is sooo huge! Oh well.

That gameplay left me a bit disappointed, but Matsuno's world building in that was grade-A.

My least favorite is still Final Fantasy 2, as they tried something intensely story based, on a system that flat out couldn't handle it. Then the removal of levels, the broken combat, etc, etc. It was an ambitious game, but nearly all the new things it tried were done wrong.

FF II actually isn't that bad if you:

1) learn to exploit the cheats and
2) play the PSX or GBA version

I actually had a lot of fun with it.

Yeah, the original FF II is not even remotely playable. At least building levels can be fun in other games, hitting A A B literally 100 times to level up a weapon or spell in FF II just isn't engaging in any way whatsoever.

X-2 and XII from my experiences. Got about half way through each and just couldn't do it anymore.

I have not played all FF but I've played quite a few. The ones I've played have been I, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, X, and XII. From those experiences I would say that IX is my least favorite. I enjoyed its awesome graphics and fun combat, but the party characters were mostly terrible and the plot itself wasn't good at all. I mean FFIX's lead protagonist alone is an abortion of aesthetic character design (David Bowie and a monkey had a baby). Even though FFIX starts very strong, the latter half of IX just falls apart and degenerates into a meandering mess with a surprise WTF final boss. And I consider FFIX to be the most overrated in the series.

Favorite FFs for me are VI and XII so take that as you will.

I never played either, but looking from the outside in, I really really reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally doubt that FF13 is a worse game than FF2.
