Don't get me wrong- It's a good game! But I really don't think it aged all that well.
How about Morrowind? It's a lot more approachable than the older titles and it has a home console release for people who don't game on the PC.
If you don't have an Xbox, the PC version runs on a netbook and is easily obtainable as well.

I can't really see myself getting excited about a game that is so long we'll need to devote a year to it. I mean, if it were a series I was already into that'd be one thing, but as a TR title... I don't really like that idea personally.

Yea cant do the Morrowind, games like that are more like lifetime achievements. However my Fav of the bunch.
Has Shadowrun been considered?

I take it you're one of those people who never figured out you could quickly travel between major cities? Exactly why I'm suggesting that we have it as an option game to play and discuss on top of the usual monthly ones. For those of us that wan't to have a Long Play Together Retro.noiseredux wrote:I can't really see myself getting excited about a game that is so long we'll need to devote a year to it. I'm not sure the conditions of Outrun in 2010, but if it's viable, I think OutRun 2/2006 would be a great TR game. It's on several platforms (PS2, Xbox, PSP, PC) and the 2006 variant has lots of levels and challenges. Tons of unlockables in the form of music remixes, cars, mirror track etc. Also being an arcade game, we could compete for high scores.

Older. Not wiser.

Thats a great concept but the year is looking stacked already.I usually pick games in between so Morrowind could be something like that.I actually change my mind about the shadowrun consideration that game kicks my ass!

I'd like to throw another vote behind Advanced Wars as our strategy game.

Seeing as no-one has been suggesting anything for platformers for a while, I'd like to suggest we do a double-month of Sega Disney games - Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion and Donald Duck Quackshot and/or Lucky Dime Caper. I dunno if people think those aren't widespread enough though. They're on Master System, Mega Drive/Genesis and Game Gear.
I don't like the idea of Advance Wars for Strategy. Its only available on GBA (the other games are different) and I quite like the idea of playing a real time strategy this time. If not, I just want to play Yggdra Union because I've beaten Advance Wars a couple times already
Anyhow, Update time:
Jan: Adventure – Golden Axe Warrior/ Beyond Oasis/ Neutopia/ Young Merlin/ Startropics/Legacy of the Wizard/ ICO + Lost in Shadow
Feb: Fighter – Guilty Gear/ Something 3D/Fatal Fury/ Soul Calibur II/Mortal Kombat/Tekken 3 /Darkstalkers 3/Dead or Alive 2/TMNT Tournament Fighters
Mar: RPG – Baldurs Gate/Legend of Dragoon/car battler joe/final lap twin (RPG? Really?)/ A Dragon Quest/Ogre Battle/Revelations: Demon Slayer/Skies of Arcadia/Rogue Galaxy/a SaGa game/Ultima/Fallout/Might & Magic/Wizardry/Bards Tale/Kings Bounty/Elder Scrolls:Morrowind or Daggerfall/Shadowrun/Grandia 2
Apr: Sports or Racing – Ridge Racer/Wipeout/Sega Rally/SkiFree/Tecmo World Wrestling/F Zero or F Zero X/Mario Tennis/Virtua Tennis/ Wave Race/Crash Team Racing/Megaman Battle and Chase/Outrun2(2006)
May: FPS – Half Life/Wolfenstein 3d/Doom/Quake/COD2: Big Red One/Jumping Flash/Unreal Tournament
Jun: Strategy – Command and Conquer/Europa Universalis II/Ogre Battle or OB64/Advance Wars/Yggra Union
Jul: Runngun or beatemup – Shock Troopers/Gunstar Heroes/Megaman X3/Astro Boy/Guardian Heroes/Gauntlet
Aug: Party game – Space Channel 5/ Parappa the Rapper/ Stakes Winner/ Zelda 4 Swords/Worms 2/ A Bomberman game
Sep: Platformer – Great Giana Sisters/ Sparkster/ Out of this World/Super Mario Bros 2/Flashback/Yo Noid/DK Jr./
Oct: Horror-related – Silent Hill/Alone in the Dark/D/Zombies ate my neighbours/Maniac Mansion
Nov: Puzzle – Tetris/ Puzzle League/Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo/7th Guest/Puyo Puyo (robotniks MBM)/Dr.Mario/Puzzle Bobble(bust-a-move)
Dec: Shmup – R Type/ Ikaruga/ DoDonpachi/Something on Turbografx/Fantasy Zone/Stinger/Raiden IV/Gunbird II
Pinball – Crush Series?
If I missed anything, as usual, let me know. I hope Opa-Opa doesnt mind that I left out Magical Chase. I didn't know whether Noise's comment about Puzzle Fighter 2 on PSN/XBLA counted as a +1 for the game, so I haven't bolded it yet either.

I did, and what of it? in the 1.0 version no one in town would tell you anything about stilt striders. It wasnt until after the first patch that they added that. And by walking you got to gather alchemy ingredients. The last time I played it I walked to Balmora, bought alchemy tools, and ended up with alot of money right out of the gate. I ended up killing off the world but that is inconsequential. The Elders Scroll games can take days, or can take minutes. Personally I would choose Daggerfall out of all of them, but if we get to choose a PC RPG, Baldurs Gate or Fallout.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I take it you're one of those people who never figured out you could quickly travel between major cities? Both are on GoG for cheap, run on most everything (technically even a smartphone), and are amazing titles. I will be honest and say I have only played about an hour in each. In Baldurs Gate my cd copy is scratched so it wont install, so I played a friends and it crapped out on me - but this was 10 years ago. In Fallout I played until I was destroyed by a murder of scorpions, then sold that laptop. BUT now I have Baldurs Gate via GoGs sale two weekends ago and would love to give it another go. However Fallout does have Ron Pearlmen as a voice actor...
Planescape Torment is a really long game. It is in the top five rpg's ever created, but it is a really long game. And that damn Ravel Puzzlewell still has my character stuck.

I'm guessing Grandia 2 isn't going to get anyone excited?
