Its going to come back to the console - sure its late and its not an emotion chip in the box but its going to come back - probably when the PS2 dies in the major markets which judging by the shelves of gamestores in NA is not going to be long.
No predictions here - I dont have a hat to bet.

Re: PS3 slim
Sony has gone publically on record saying "BC will not be coming back," in very blunt language. So I personally wouldn't hold my breath on this feature. Maybe it'll be a download off the PSN for about the same that it'd cost to just buy a used PS2 off Craigslist.countcowden wrote:BC - Havent seen it mentioned in the previous 12 pages so forgive me if its been posted already.

Re: PS3 slim
yep seen that but then they also spent the first six months of the year denying PS3 slim and price cut as it wasnt needed eithier.
Re: PS3 slim
The only way I can see Sony bringing BC back is if they start a "PStwo Classics" page or something. I'd assume something like that won't happen until after places like GameStop discontinue their PS2 support.
Think about it - where do you think most people would buy their PS2 games for the PS3? The very small collection of brand new titles (that are, for the most part, licensed garbage) that are still asking $30, or the massive $10 or less bargain bin of used games?
It's because of this that I don't think PS2 support will hit until the system is good and dead. They have to be able to convince people that the only way to get the games easily is to just buy them directly from PSN, just the same way they do with their PS1 games.

Re: PS3 slim
The Playstation 4 likely won't support any physical media, like the upcoming PSPGo. Everyone knows Sony hates used game sales and loves getting money from the average moron. If you want to play PS1-PS4 games on your PS4, you will need to pay Sony to download them. The system can come with a 2TB HDD and allow the users to move data to external HDDs. Of course, your games won't be playable on any other console and cannot be resold. If the game is no longer available and your console breaks, those games will be lost forever.
The future of video games is pretty scary. I may just stop buying new games altogether if this is what really ends up happening.

Re: PS3 slim
It's not coming back. The software in this story will be used to sell us PS2 games for $20 a pop via PSN. Sony gets no money from people who will just buy used classics at GameStop to play in their BC PS3. The money they're losing when people don't buy the console at all because it doesn't have BC is small compared to the amount they can make selling PS2 games digitally.countcowden wrote:BC - Havent seen it mentioned in the previous 12 pages so forgive me if its been posted already.
