Tweaking the title of this thread for a catch-all NES gaming and collecting topic.

I'm kind of frozen in indecision on what NES game to sit down and really try to beat: Batman, Castlevania III, or Ninja Gaiden. I don't expect to beat Ninja Gaiden but getting to the final boss would be enough for me I think. Then I can move on to the sequel.
The last game I purchased was Werewolf: The Last Samurai, which I have not played yet.

Castlevania III is the best of the bunch (which is saying something because I adore Ninja Gaiden). Go with that one.Snatch1414 wrote:I'm kind of frozen in indecision on what NES game to sit down and really try to beat: Batman, Castlevania III, or Ninja Gaiden. Werewolf: The Last Warrior is awful. Don't jump into that one unless you're ready for pain.

Thanks for the tips. I agree Dracula's Curse is the best of those mentioned. The thing with that one for me is with those games having a somewhat slower pace, I start loathing another play session starting all over again. Maybe all the reason to try to tough it out in one night though I guess
I dug the label on Werewolf but any NES game I've never heard of I assume it's bad until proven otherwise so no big deal haha

Unlike Batman and Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania III has a password system; so, there is no reason to beat it in one sitting.Snatch1414 wrote:Thanks for the tips. Ah man, I came into a crisp CIB copy of that game and held onto it given Data East published it. Was hoping it was a hidden gem.TSTR wrote:Werewolf: The Last Warrior is awful. Don't jump into that one unless you're ready for pain.
Can anyone tell me how Kid Nicki is for the NES?

Old fashioned, but fun in a "gonzo roughly-translated 8-bit video games clearly meant for a Japanese audience" sort of way that a lot of NES games were back in the 1980s.retrosportsgamer wrote:Can anyone tell me how Kid Nicki is for the NES?
Also, there are far worse NES games than Werewolf: The Last Warrior...

There are far worse than Werewolf. You can actually have a good time with its awfulness.

True enough, but hey at least they were desperate or ballzy enough to release a good few of the better Japanese screw ball games here. Stinger, Twinbee 2, look how long it took for that franchise to be localized in the US after that point for example.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Old fashioned, but fun in a "gonzo roughly-translated 8-bit video games clearly meant for a Japanese audience" sort of way that a lot of NES games were back in the 1980s.retrosportsgamer wrote:Can anyone tell me how Kid Nicki is for the NES?
