So, I'm going for loose NTSC-U NES carts. I've been trying to think of a cool subset to go for, just to give me an attainable goal.

I love collecting NES carts, and a few sub-sets are:

* the "pixel art" Nintendo games (i.e., Balloon Fight, Duck Hunt, etc.);
* the "silver label" Konami games (i.e., Contra, Jackal, Super C, etc.);
* the "Captain Commando" Capcom games (i.e., Gun.Smoke, Mega Man, Trojan, etc.);
* the "purple label" Capcom games (i.e., DuckTales, Little Nemo, Mega Man 2-6, etc.);
* licensed Tengen carts (i.e., Gauntlet, RBI Baseball, etc.);
* unlicensed Tengen carts (i.e., Gauntlet, RbI Baseball, Rolling Thunder, Shinobi, etc.).

There are lot of other sub-sets that are fun to collect, but I think that these sets will ensure that you have some of the best games on the system. In addition, while Stack Up (NES) will drive up the cost of the "pixel art" set and DuckTales 2 (NES), Rescue Rangers 2 (NES), and Snow Brothers (NES) will drive up the price of the "purple label" Capcom set, the rest of the games in each of these sets are relatively inexpensive.

Gonna keep it well under $100 this month. On the hunt for C64 carts and maybe an SNES RPG or two.

EDIT: My "this month" I mean February of course. 8)

Both of them working?

Yup :D

Well the Model 1 didn't work at first, but all it needed was a fuse replacement.

Very cool. Is the fuse replacement on the model 1 as easy as it is with the model 2?

Last day of the month, here's my pick ups:

Consoles: Wii U Premium Bundle - £290

Games:
January
New Super Mario Bros. U Wii U - Free
Nintendo Land Wii U - Free with console
Bubble Bobble SMS - £9.05
Kirby Mass Attack DS - £11.95
Balloon Fight Wii U VC - £0.30
Total: £21.30

NSMB U was a Christmas present, and Nintendoland came with the Wii U console I bought half way through the month. Mass Attack was a new years deal on Amazon, and Bubble Bobble was purchased for February's Together Retro. Pretty sure I overpaid on that one unfortunately, although the price does include £3 postage. Balloon Fight was purchased because of it's low price on Nintendo's 30th Anniversery of the Famicom Wii U celebration thing.

One of my collecting goals this year was to limit myself to 3 new games per month excluding together retro games. I've kind of achieved this one this month - NSMBU was a late Christmas present, and Balloon Fight is a game I've already beaten for cheap, which works with my goals anyway (as the reason for limiting my purchases was to allow myself to buy the more expensive titles and work on my backlog - Balloon Fight doesn't impact my backlog or my budget really, so it's all good).

Probably gonna be a much smaller year for purchases this year, but I'm betting my expenditure at the end will still be pretty high.
