Now I'm most likely not going to buy it. If the only part that has detailed platforming is Sky Sanctuary. Then it's not a Sonic game.
The game has detailed platforming. It's a lot like the older games in that, yeah, you can blast your way through if you want to go fast, but all the stages have multiple routes that you have to navigate to nab all the red star unlockables.

Buy it. You won't be disappointed. Don't let someone else's words ruin it for you. Too many people already overlooked SG because it hit the same time as Skyrim.

I have to say, having been going back and forth between this and Rayman Origins, Sonic Generations have been much more fun. That's how good this game is. Rayman Origins is very, very frustrating when you're trying to collect stuff or get trophies and even though Rayman Origins has fared better with reviewers, I would rate Sonic Generations as a better game and would recommend it to others over Rayman

I saw a review or two mention that Sonic Generations didn't have enough bosses or that the ones in the game weren't good

I've had three boss fights so far against Metal Sonic, Shadow and Robotnick. All three of them were pretty epic and well designed. The way that you actually beat Shadow is pretty creative and cool and the song that plays throughout the battle is a cool remix of the song that played when you fought him in Sonic Adventure 2. During the fight, you or him can power up and the music will then change to a Sonic or Shadow specific theme. That's very cool

I haven't gotten to the third boss yet, but that big water boss was kind of an incredible battle.

I think Rayman Origins LOOKS pretty, but I'm not sure I'll get it. I'm assuming it's like the first game in that you have to collect a bunch of shit to actually beat the game? I'm not into that.

Oh shit, does that mean you haven't gotten to Rooftop Run yet? Oh wow. If one level in all of Generations sums up that game, it is Act 2 of Rooftop Escape. I have never had that "oh my shit I am traveling at the speed of sound!" feeling hit me so strongly as it did then.

Edited for wrong level name

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The one with the fire storm? I have, and I was planning on mentioning it to you. I'm pretty sure it's the greatest Sonic level I've ever played. I just finished opening the challenge stages for the third set of levels. So I should be on to the third boss soon.

No, the one I am talking about is the one where you run through a city towards a clock tower, jumping from balloons and dodging spikey wheels dropped from an airship.

AH yes! The clock! Yeah awesome level. The whole game is just excellent level design though. Like I said, constant "ok, ONE MORE level" for me.

I just finished roof top run. This may be my GOTY as no other game has consistently put a smile on my face as this one has.

Awesome thing about this game is that it's as fun to watch as it to play. Here's a cool vid of that very level you mentioned being played by a good player. It's just poetry in motion

My fave so far is still the speed highway. I love both Acts 1 and 2 of it

Man with this game, Sonic once again feels like king of the mascot characters
