I'm posting here rather than creating a new thread.

Let it be known - not all moderators share the same opinions. Unless a moderator specifically says, "The moderator team has decided..." (or similar) then that expressed opinion should NOT be considered the opinion of the entire moderator team.

We have frank discussion and try to make forum decisions based on what we believe is reasonable, fair, and within the vision of Racket for the site. There are frequent times we disagree and in those cases the majority rules as in ideal democracy.

Lastly - let me heavily emphasize. Moderating is not the glamour some would suggest. It is primarily sending polite pm's about forum violations and nuking spambots. Yes, those of us who do moderate mostly enjoy it; from my perspective, I like having a voice on the mod team that represents views and directions that I and some other members share.

THAT SAID: Moderators (per forum rules) ARE MEMBERS FIRST. We are allowed opinion, often an opinion that you may not like at all - it does not mean we can't have that opinion because we are a moderator. That line is old. Grow up. (again, member speaking, not official moderator stance  - see the difference?)

+1, I said pretty much exactly this the last time it was brought up about "Mod" behavior. Don't listen to the haters Mike.

I say this with sincerity: this site is an island of sanity and clear thought in an ocean of swirling bullshit. We don't dwell on stuff like Gamergate and I can't imagine any other site being able to have something like the Unpopular opinions thread without it devolving into a crass pissing match.

You might think Jvalentine threads are bad but the Escapist has a poll up at the moment asking people how much they masturbate and it's one of the sanest they've had for a while.

This place is doing fine.

I go there to mock MovieBob and saw it out of the corner of my eye. If they've done it before I wouldn't be surprised. That place is genuinely insane.

I just wish everyone would chill out and talk about video games.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I know!

The other day I commented that Trick 'r Treat is just an OK movie, and no one threatened to murder me and my family! It was so civilized!
