If you haven't dude I bet you'd love the first two Arc the Lad games. They connect as one huge game, so you'll have like 30-40 characters in Arc 2, that game you can actually walk around in towns and area's so it's more engaging in that way, and the whole game is just a blast. I think you'd really dig it. It's a bit faster paced than FFT/TO as well so that's nice.
I love JRPG's. They just take me forever to finish. I assume I don't like WRPG's. I've never played one to my knowledge, but never found one that appeals to me. But yr right, SRPG's are definitely my favorite sub-genre of RPG. I just really like the sort of chess-game style gameplay. I like that I can sort of sit there and move on my own timeframe, and THIS MIGHT SOUND FUNNY, but I tend to enjoy the strategy of battles way more than actually paying attention to any sort of story. I find SRPG's really relaxing games, so I don't want to read a bunch of story or even figure out "ok, what town do I have to go to next." I just really like the battles.

As far as Arc The Lad, I've always wanted to try them -- at least the PS1 games. I intend to at some pont.

-Characers can come back to life at church from the priest cost money.
-Angel Item warps you back to town, you still retain your xp.
-Arc the lad collection is Insane SRPG must have!!
Thanks for the tips. This game sounds potentially easy to abuse with the warping stuff... haha.

@noise: haha, yeah I hear ya. So yeah, I'm totally sure you're gonna love the early Arc the Lad games. The collection is amazing but maybe hard to come by thesedays, the first two games along with the endless monster arena are up on PSN though I believe. Highly recommended! Just thinking about it makes me want to replay them, haha.

I've had the Working Designs box on my radar for a while. I'll get to it at some point. :)

Maybe I missed it in the game somewhere, but what exactly does Land Effect have an effect on? Hit percentages or anything?

Are Monk's best left unarmed like in most games here too?

Think my only complaint is that the menu system in this game is rather clunky, haha. I'd love to easily see the status of everyone without having to go to the training area or whatever, and things like that. Hopefully that stuff improves with the sequels?

I think the land effects movement, but I could swear somewhere stated it helps with damage too.

Monks and some other characters cannot equip weapons but are open to accessories like rings.

As for the menus I agree its a pain to set stuff up.My minor complaint about SF are the menus (should be a quicker way to optimize better).

Last night when I was suppose to take a break I played anyways and screwed myself abit.I equipped My main character and Ken with cursed weapons and now I cant remove them.If worst case I can probably find something to fix My Mc but Ken maybe useless the rest of the game.So be careful wth these items.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Which is EXACTLY what I am doing. :D

Once you guys have finished it, look up some of the stuff that was not translated from the Japanese version. There is one fairly major plot point that was never shown in the English version.

A priest can remove cursed items. Don't worry about Ken. He's useless compared to the other centaurs anyway. ;)

Promoting isn't really working very well for me. I promoted a bunch of my people already, on promotion they lost a bit of stats as intended. However ALL of them only get a single HP up on each level-up since! There's been many level ups of promoted units already that it makes me wonder if this is a bug - I'm playing the GBA remake.

I can't believe no one has started talking about how awesome Gong is. He kicks ass and heals with his bare buddhist hands for crying out loud!

I don't find him that great. I gave him a power ring, so he's dealing more damage, but Gort is my favorite for brute force.
