It looks as if all the pins are there and if you could just get a plug adapter or make one yourself.

I wonder if an RAU-30 would work...

Speaking of an RAU-30,Breetai wrote:I wonder if an RAU-30 would work...
Thinking of getting a SuperGrafx sometime in the near future, and I've been offered a RAU-30 for $25 (excl shipping).
Good price?

Re: Wanting to buy a turbografx, need some pointers please!
See, that's the thing. A PCE would likely fit in the US CD unit if the plug wasn't slightly different. A TG would probably fit in the later PCE CD unit too other than the plug. Then there's the RAU-30. I wasn't even thinking about the briefcase unit like your picture which obviously won't work. But there's so much PCE/TG hardware it can be confusing. Hell I replied while distracted and confused myself a bit, then added on the end of my post.Breetai wrote:I don't expect anyone would try to fit a TG-16 into a PCE IFU or vice-versa...
I tried to make it fit! *snip*
I wonder if an RAU-30 would work...
For someone who has never dealt with the NEC stuff might think that it is all interchangeable. That would suck to read "the US and Japanese CD units are interchangeable", hop online and buy a bunch of stuff, then find out it doesn't work together because of a misunderstanding.

There is also a plastic part on the right side of the PCE IFU that prevents the TG from going in. You'd have to cut it off. I'm not doing that!!!Hobie-wan wrote:A TG would probably fit in the later PCE CD unit too other than the plug.
That's why people new to NEC should just buy a Duo.For someone who has never dealt with the NEC stuff think that it is all interchangeable. I mean, here is everything you need just to get basic CD functionality out of a regular Turbografx-16 (switch AV cables for RF, though!). This won't even let you play all the CD games! You need a better system bios card for that...
