You mean the board with nail?

Yeah, the start can be a little rough, though once you get through the hotel there really isn't too much backtracking. You'll still be wandering around the open town for a bit, but you'll spend most of your time indoors. And yeah, the board does suck, but if you make it to the metal pipe, you're golden. Seriously, metal pipes are the workhorse of those games.

Asscreed has one of the better stories in videogames. Game has freeroam which elevates it from interactive movie status.

As for my picks
Halo 3 - A trite campaign that is augmented by naff cutscenes and absurd scenarios.
Ninja Gaiden 2 - Cheap boss AI, I'm too old for this shit.

Secret of Mana, Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN

All games I SHOULD like, considering I love all the other 2D/3D metroids and 2D Castlevanias (Rondo of blood FTW).

And with Secret of Mana, I feel it had SO much potential but the combat system is a little aqwerd (I'm so bad at spelling that word that even spell check has no idea what I'm talking about, lol).

So many weapons.... that for the most part all do the same thing.
The hit detection was weird (those who played it prolly know what I'm talking about)

But yet I WANT to love it! a 16-Bit Action RPG made by square? Sounds like something right up my alley.

Oh and lets not forget 95% of games made this generation.....

I've tried many times to get interested in the StarCraft games, but I just can't. Yet, I like other RTSes plenty like Warhammer and Total War. =/

When I was a kid I had a 32X, so there were quite a few games I wanted to like so bad, just to make myself feel better about the purchase. Some were legitimately fun, like Shadow Squadron, Virtua Fighter and Racing (played those so much!), but then there were games like Cosmic Carnage and Metal Head. Oh GOD METAL HEAD... I tried so hard to like those games since they were superficially similar to awesome games I didn't own like MechWarrior 2000 and Mortal Kombat.

Sold that sucker a long time ago. Kind of miss Chaotix, but that's about it.

Final Fantasy XIII

Cut scenes are awesome, graphics are awesome, story is awesome, control is awesome, music is awesome, gameplay is boring.

I've pumped over 40 hours into it and am at the last boss but wait im forced to spend litterally another hour wandering to some stone to spend another hour wondering to some monster, to get my ass kicked by cheap 1hit ko moves, to spend another hour grinding, to spend another hour trying and failing to slay the monster. Only to repeat the process.

Not to mention whos idea was it to make the bosses easy but have rediculous amounts of health. Honestly one boss took over two hours to kill and barely ever hurt me due to his litterally millions of hp!

Finally the item system. I know its supposed to be revolutionary but i dont get it, weapons gain xp through having random objects used on them and you buy your items at an online shop instead of a tradition marketplace??? Also the stats for every item suck untill you upgrade them countless times, making buying anything new seem pointless after investing in your default weapon. Finally no armour??? An RPG without armour just seems odd to me, half the fun was finding the best equipment combination.

So i've spent the whole game simply playing to watch the next cutscene, and now i havn't played it in months due to the rediculously large world and slow travel speed.

^funny how things change, huh?

ANYWAY, I bumped this thread because I was thinking of this recently. I actually didn't even remember this thread to be honest, but figured we must have discussed this in the past. Did a quick search and sure enough...

When I was younger I had Strider for Genesis and just could never really enjoy it that much. Sure I thought it looked great, but I hated the controls and felt like the hit detection was rough and I'd get killed pretty fast.

Over the years I've heard plenty of acclaim for Strider, so I recently booted it up on the PS2 via Capcom Collection... and guess what? I still think it kind of sucks. I mean again, it looks great. But I just don't like the controls -- the way he flips in the air for example. And I still find the hit detection to be wonky. But I feel like I should like it... or something. I don't know.

I've never played ChuChu Rocket with anyone else. It's a blast solo. No?
actually never tried it solo...
everyone keeps telling me it's the multiplayer game
will give it a try next time I'm out of games to play =)
I like Chu-Chu Rocket solo, but it is absolute madness in multiplayer in the most awesome of ways. I hope you enjoy it in whichever mode you choose!

TMNT III: The Manhattan Project. Don't get me wrong. I love the Ninja Turtles. I love the NES arcade game, and Hyperstone Heist is one of my favorite games of all time. I truly, sincerely want to enjoy the time I spend trying to beat Manhattan Project. But not only does it make me mad, it hurts my thumbs. And my ego.

Man, I'm going to get beat up over this, but..

Shenmue- I didn't really find it engrossing so much as it was boring and plodding. Maybe if I had played it when it first came out..

Crazy Taxi- I know it was based on an arcade game, and I had a lot of fun with it, but I couldn't stand not having a mode with no time limit. A lot of times I just wanted to drive around and explore, but couldn't because of that damn time limit.

Sonic Adventure- After the first level, it didn't feel like a Sonic game to me anymore.

Sega Rally Championship 2- I always read good things about the game, and I hadn't had a racing game in ages. I just couldn't get into it. It's easier to drive a rally car in real life than in this game.

Pokemon Soulsilver- I wanted a game that would give me a lot to do and last me a long time. More often than not, I ended up falling asleep playing the game.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion- Okay, I don't like turn based RPG's. I should like an action RPG right? Nope..another game I fell asleep while I was playing.

Grand Theft Auto IV- I enjoyed Vice City, so I gave this one a shot. One of my favorite things to do in GTA is just drive around, and check out the city. Not in this one. Vehicle control seemed busted to me.

Duke Nukem Forever- I wanted to like it for the nostalgia factor, but this game brought me the closest I've been to throwing a controller in years..

Persona (PSP)- I figured I'd give it a try, since it seemed more interesting than the usual RPG fare. What I got instead was a crazy amount of random encounters, boring dungeons, and...turn based combat.

Metal Gear Solid 3- I loved MGS and liked MGS2, but just could not get into this game. I don't know what it is about it that turns me off..

Battlefield 3- I thoroughly enjoyed BF2: BC2, so I was hyped when i heard this one was coming out. But, after playing it on a friend's pc, the magic kinda faded. I know it's toned down on the console, and I would be getting in pretty late, so I would already be at a disadvantage. I've had it in my hands, ready to purchase a couple times now, but talked myself out of it each time.

R.E. 5: I wanted to like this game so badly. I've beaten every US released R.E. game, except for this one. Instead of building on all the things that made 4 great; they decided to tweak it so it sucks ass.
Trying to access your inventory in real time? Bullshit.
Having to “cooperate” with a partner? Utter bullshit. I got so tired of so many bullets being wasted as they were shot into me. “I'm out of ammo!” Then go lay in the corner while they rip out your fucking brains.
AARRGGHH!!!
Seriously though, I love everything R.E. and somehow this game totally missed the mark with me.
