Now, there are two strange things here. The first is that the computer accepted the penalty, which they clearly shouldn't have. I'm not sure that's a bug, though, as I don't know if offensive pass interference can be called on an interception. But that's a very strange edge case that doesn't even come up much, so I'd have to look at the official NFL rulebook.
Yes it was very good for me, instead of giving up the touchdown, the Jets accepted the offensive pass interference and it bought the ball from 3rd and 5 to 3rd and 15.

Yes you can call offensive pass interference, as soon as the ref sees it he will throw the flag, its just a reaction, they still have to explain the penalty to everybody.

now lets say the Jets fumbled the ball after the interception, and then i ran it in for a touchdown, that is the reason why the option of accepting and declining is still there, which in this example the Jets would definitely accept the penalty in their favor.
There are 3 things I don't believe in, politics and math.

Stupid Madden. I never played another one besides '92. I played the 2k series on Dreamcast, then 2k5 on Xbox.

Your first post made complete sense - just seems like an instance (albeit a strange one) of poor A.I. scripting.

I used to be an expert at drawing pass interference calls in Madden. I've won countless games (even when playing two player) by throwing a bomb/long pass to the end zone on the last play of regulation. 9 times out of 10 I can draw a pass interference call in the end zone. The result? A free play on the other teams one yard line which gives you a much better chance of actually scoring points before the end of regulation.

I've seen the computer do some dumb things like in your example as well. I'm pretty sure such bugs don't get fixed very quickly because they re-release the same game every year with just a few minor tweaks. I know if I were one of the code monkeys working on Madden I wouldn't be in too big of a hurry to fix things...that job just has to suck.

Ok, I've never really bothered to learn the rules of American Football. My P.E. teacher in middle school would randomly make us play and ridicule me the entire time... that was about it.

"Sorry couch, I'm a nerd, not a jock... so lick my ass!"

So I read the rules...

WHAT THE HELL!?

That's not a game, that's... that's... it's a convoluted pile of if then cases resulting in one assinine run about the field.

Play a real sport people.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

BOO! You, fellow gamer, have offended and insulted me! :x

Football is really very easy to understand. Certainly if a "jock" can get it then a "nerd" could as well if they just gave it some effort. Anyway, learning sports by reading the rulebook is like saying you understand the nuances of a video game because you read the instruction manual. You need to watch it and play it long enough until you really do get it. Most people I know learned how football is played by watching games with other people who were patient enough to explain what they were seeing.

Also, fuck you for calling football "American Football." If you're an American, it's just football to you.
