Yes it was very good for me, instead of giving up the touchdown, the Jets accepted the offensive pass interference and it bought the ball from 3rd and 5 to 3rd and 15.MrPopo wrote:No, it was good for him. Instead of an interception -> touchdown which would have occured with no or a declined penalty he gets the ball back with a loss of yards. So now he can still make first down or punt, either of which doesn't involve the opponent scoring.
Now, there are two strange things here. The first is that the computer accepted the penalty, which they clearly shouldn't have. I'm not sure that's a bug, though, as I don't know if offensive pass interference can be called on an interception. But that's a very strange edge case that doesn't even come up much, so I'd have to look at the official NFL rulebook.
Yes you can call offensive pass interference, as soon as the ref sees it he will throw the flag, its just a reaction, they still have to explain the penalty to everybody.
now lets say the Jets fumbled the ball after the interception, and then i ran it in for a touchdown, that is the reason why the option of accepting and declining is still there, which in this example the Jets would definitely accept the penalty in their favor.
