Games are a waste of time.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'm pretty lucky -- my wife doesn't mind me gaming at all --- she probably plays more than I do...

There are a lot of things that non-gamers do that can easily be considered as bigger time-wasters than video games. For instance, take television. I don't watch television. I realize that some of it can be useful, but my roommate's girlfriend and my family watch some of the worst shows possible, namely The Jerry Springer Show and Tila Tequila.

At least video games force some sort of interaction from you, maybe strengthening your problem-solving skills or improving your hand-eye coordination. That's not to say that television can't do the same, but video games are more hands-on than television is in either respect. Furthermore, a lot of people who don't play video games don't necessarily realize that video games can have the same amount of depth as a lot of movies or television shows, often more.

Ask her how video games are a waste of time. I'm sure that it really does just boil down to some sort of attention that she somehow feels she isn't getting.

We spend what time we can get together. She works 8 to 5:30 I work 4 to 10 and 2 days during the week I work at another place 8 to 1 on tues and 8 to 12 on sat. And we have a 1 month old baby. Its hard to spend time with each other on this schedule. Thats what the week ends are for! I play my games before I go to work and when she is sleeping. Every now and then I play when she is awake when I have something new but that has been ages ago.

What brought Games are a waste of time up, was that we were talking about christmas gifts. I told her I wanted a ds game and that she had to pick one out that I may like with out my help. She said Your getting no games they are a waste of time!

It maybe a waste of time. But as long as you enjoy it and it doesn't control your life. Tell her too bad soo sad. If she doesnt like it. Go find someone else. At least that is what I would tell my wife/girlfriend.

IMO, sharing your life with someone that doesn't support your interests is a waste of time.

Normally I fully support such a stance, but there is the child to consider.
Man I hate women sometimes. Sometimes I ponder if celibacy would really be the solution to all my problems...
Why can't you just hang out with guys? You know, do all the things you'd do with women, but do it with your buddy. Why don't guys just do that?

They do, it's called being gay.

Oh, THAT'S what gay is? Oh yeah, I could totally get behind that.

Dude, I have a fiancée. Had you have chosen to read my post you would know that. It was an off the cuff remark and an attempt at sarcasm to imply being gay would be the better option because more guys like video games, If you needed to have a relationship. Celibacy would be the more selfish solution, meaning the only person you had to please is yourself.

Not sure at what you are implying with your statement but I see nothing wrong with a homosexual relationship. If you are uncomfortable with it then that's your prerogative.

I see we don't have a Family Guy fan here.

We have the same interest, but not every thing is the same, I would not want to date some one that is just like me. I play my games, she reads her books, every thing else we agree on. I love her to death and would not leave her just cause she doesn't like games. She is interested in a very few games like Ninja Gaiden on the nds and any game that only uses the stylist and she loved watching RE4. I too dabble in books, like the Hobbit. We each have a small interest in each others hobby.

I just hate it when some one says something is a waste of time cause in reality everything is a waste.
