Exactly my thoughts. What a waste. I'm not surprised by it though.
Is it weird that i kind of am surprised? Nintendo obviously put thought enough into this idea to say to themselves "it would be cool if we could get a chunk of that mp3/camera market!" To then not follow through in the slightest, but do it anyway seems really odd. I expect this kind of stuff from the console department of nintendo, but not the handheld. They usually own that market and really have their shit together.

I'll stick with what I have. If I didn't already have one (or two), I'd probably get it, but it's not worth upgrading. The DS Lite is close to perfection, and the only minor complaints I have about it aren't resolved with it.

Having the Opera browser built-in
While you're at it, build in an email and IM client as well.
Support more wireless security protocols
Having both screens be touch-screens would be nice
Having a more comfortable D-Pad

Initially, I thought being thinner would be nicer, but it would probably make it more likely to make your hand cramp up.
Having built-in media capabilities is nice, but I can get by with my homebrew cart.

agreed. I hate that! It is the WORST when you play metroid on that thing. Stylus touchscreen with the shoulder/dpad is awful.
I hear the nerf case you can get for it makes the ds a good size. thicker. I haven't tried it out yet though.

You would think that if they were rebooting the ds, they would implement some of those features. A browser and chat/email would be really great.

EDIT- just realized they are actually putting a browser in. cool. Also, some multimedia capabilities, but who knows the scope of files it'll handle.
It will add an SD card slot and internal storage (we don't yet know how much) to enhance its multimedia capabilities. The screens are now slightly larger at 3.25 inches, photos can be synced to the Wii Photo Channel, and the unit will include a free browser application.
still... i'll wait until its crazy cheap.

You got me here. At times I'm really tempted to buy one.

Its worth it. If you are at all interested in interesting titles with a retro feel the ds and gba has them in spades. Honestly- i think it is the most interesting platform on the market.

M'lady and I each have a DS-L but I think I'm still going to get one for the hell of it. I'll let y'all know if the flashcarts don't work on it. ;)
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Notice how most people are saying they aren't going to buy one.
If you buy one and wait a few years they could be rare.
Like the Virtual Boy.
You would have a rare handheld.
Or you could sell it for some money.
Unless everyone buys one.
Or they buy one thinking that it will be rare but since everyone bought one thinking it would go rare it won't go rare...

I personally don't have a DS at all. I'll stick with my GBA SP and retro consoles.
I probably won't buy one.

yeah that analogy doesn't work -

Virtual Boy price when new: ~$180
Average used Virtual boy price and some games on eBay now: ~$100

Unless you leave it boxed, this probably isn't a great investment...
