I find that going to bed earlier helps me. My tendency is to stay up late, but I seem to get far more value out sleep if I start at 11:00 or earlier.

Exercise and diet are important. I try to start the day off with some complex carbohydrates and protein if possible. Usually I start with a big bowl of oatmeal with blue berries or bacon, eggs, and wheat toast.

I've tried power drinks and coffee and shit but none of that seems to affect me, much like how I'm seemingly immune to painkillers. The one thing that tends to get me energized is loud music. Usually hard metal or orchestral.

exercise for sure.

Also the sleep thing, this whoel 8 hours crap is nonsense if your fit. When I was a lot fitter before i got lazy and went to a 7 day workign week I would get by happily with 4 hours sleep or less a night. I was a lot happier then as well. I done that fgor an easy 5/6 years and felt awesome.

Now I have got a bit podgier and don't exercise apart from work really I am knackered more of the time and feel like I need more sleep.

I work 11 to 12 hours a day so taking a nap is out of the question. Coffee is all you need. ;)

You know, for a quick burst of energy Yerba Mate is quite good. It tastes like smokey green tea, and it wakes you up pretty good. I've never formed any kind of dependency like alot of people do with caffine. It gives you a nice herbal refresing boost. It's easy to make too, just add hot water to a cup of it (like tea) or stick a bag in a bottle of water and shake it.
