In the UK we have two big chains; Gamestation and Game. We used to have Electronics Boutique as well, but that got bought out by Game. EB was awesome. Game sucks and the Gamestation near me doesn't do pre-orders! XD Doh! The only other semi-chain we have is Playtime, they do imports and most stores have a large collection of retro stuff but it's stupidly expensive.

but yeah..

I looooove Metal Gear Solid. Been into it since the beginning (im ignoring metal gear for the msx 'cos lets face it, it wasn't brilliant, don't get me started on the nes ports and snake's revenge :S) Besides Metal Gear Solid 3 is basically 'Metal Gear' in 3D anyway.

I can't wait for Metal Gear Solid 4. I hope that some magazine/game offers the first 10 minutes of the game playable somewhere! Like they did with Metal Gear Solid (with Official Playstation Magazine, I still have that demo disk, it's got a ton of net yaroze games on it too, some of which are pretty cool too!) and MGS2 with Zone of the Enders!

You are located in the UK?!?! No wonder I didn't recognize that GAME store. I went on vacation to London in November last year and visit the arcade in a mall at Picadilly Circus. Had a lot of fun. Too bad there isn't anymore arcade here. Sometimes a game is played better at the arcade than home.

Anyway, about MGS4, I don't think they will release any demo since the game is being released in about 2 months. Also, I heard somewhere that Kojima said he wasn't doing any demo.

I am getting very worried about my MGS4 pre-order or lack of. You see even though Konami has been kinda enough to set up these packages and limited editions they still have not shared any details about PAL (or at least Australian) pre-orders. I am hoping to pre-order everything; the limited edition copy with the extras and the limited edition PS3 console yet still no word from Konami. The game is meant to be released wordwide at the same time yet there is still no mention on where I go to get all of the bonus goodies. With the Beta up for download this is extremely troubling. Any ideas?

If worst comes to worst I will just have to ring Konami up. :?

I must disagree about Metal Gear 1 + 2. These are both top notch games, Metal Gear 2 particularly is incredible for an 8 bit title.

Sorry mate. It seems Europe and Australia always get the short end of the stick when it comes to game release. I am lucky because I am in the US. I am also interested in that gunmetal gray PS3, but haven't heard anything since they announced it. They said they will have something last Monday, but haven't heard anything since then. As for the Limited Edition of the game, I don't know if you guys will be getting any of those on day one. The regular edition will be there for sure as it is a simultaneous worldwide release or close to it, given a day or two difference. Anyway, I know it is unfair since you guys are a small part of the gaming community compared to US, Japan, and Europe. However, I hope you guys get it too. In the end, we are all fans. I just need to know how to get my hand on one of those Limited Edition PS3. I know it was sold out the first day of pre-order in Japan. Even if I don't want to keep it, I know for sure that it will be worth a bundle on Ebay.

I want the limited edition version of MGS 4 but there's no word what-so-ever that UK is getting it. Let alone the rest of Europe/PAL territories.

*sigh* every single shitty game gets a limited edition in this country. I don't even think they understand what a limited edition is. Yet the game that is always worthwhile hunting the ltd ed version down doesn't get one! GAH! I don't want my GTAIV in a duffle bag with a lockable metal case. I don't give a shit about that crap, i'd much rather have making of documentaries and additional art books. The DVD that came with MGS 2 was great, especially seeing as that was standard. I recently got MGS 2 out to play through again, I noticed the price sticker from when I bought it on day of release. "£27 marked down from £49.99 first 10 copies only". If only game stores still did that kind of thing. I guess they can charge whatever they want now because of all the casual gamers, they'll buy anything anyone tells them to buy.

I wish gaming never went mainstream...

Nah, home is where the heart's at baby!!! One word, IMPORT, as in FAT WALLET!!! Besides, ya gotta buy a ticket, learn a new culture, get a job in a foreign country, learn the language, marry a Japanese chick, eat raw food, live in close compact space, ride the train everywhere you go. No thanks my friend. I might dig the Japanese women and the food, but that's just too much work for a L.E. HE HE HE.
