ps3 backwards compatibility

Does anyone know how great the 80 GB PS3 compatibility from software emulation compared to the 20 and 60 GB PS3 through actual hardware??? I am assuming less, even though the 20 and 60 GB PS3 compatibility of PS2 and especially PS1 games isn't that great to begin with.

The PS1 b/c is the same on all versions because it's 100% soft/emu. The 80GB's PS2 emulation/hardware combo is pretty decent. You can check the titles compatability on Sony's PS3 site and the entire game list for the PS2 in a handy drop box (but I don't have a link handy).

I dont think im going to go for a ps3 if its bc isnt 100%, theres not to many ps3 games that interest me.

Nothing is 100% compatible. I don't know if actual hardware (PS3 20/60GB) is better than software emulation (PS3 80GB), but it cannot be any better. (Can someone confirm that???) In saying that, is it stupid of me to pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4 without even owning a PS3? I just wanted to support Kojima and at the same time I am a big fan of the series. I guess I will have to eventually buy a PS3, just not any time soon. Also, I think it is ludicrous that the Limited Edition is 85 dollars, but I just couldn't help myself. Why am I so weak? Damn you Kojima!!! SNAKE. SNAKE. SNAAAAAAAAAAKKKEEEEEE!!!!

There is only a handful with the fat one and a few more with the slim one. I know because one of my favorite party game, super puzzle fighter 2 turbo, didn't work with the slim. Anyway, do a google search or wikipedia for the exact list.

I bought a 40 gig ps3...cause it was cheap...and I have 2 ps2's....so I could care less about BC....if your gonna keep your older systems...just buy whats cheap.
