the speakers were hooked up to the little stereo, and i would switch between the tv and the genesis. as far as i know, these speakers don't mess up the tv picture in anyway. i have experienced that in the past with an older tv and MUCH more powerful speakers, but mini-systems tend to not have very powerful speakers. also, more modern speakers tend to be magnetically shielded (i think that's the right term) to prevent interfering with tv/monitor picture displays.

minor update on the game room: i sold the stereo that was in my room, so i had to put my game room stereo into my room. now, i'm using these tiny (but decent) audio technica portable speakers. they're about 3 watts per each speaker, so they don't go very loud. but since i sit close enough to the tv anyway, i don't need loud sound or a big screen. simplicity does the trick!

this setup won't last much longer though... moving out of state/out of country/back again and i won't have my beloved easy-chair (or any of my furniture) anymore.

as much as i love this tv, i might finally get my own hdtv - a small one, though - something easily transportable would be nice. i would like something i can hookup my computer to AND my genesis (since the xmd-3 is way too expensive, i need composite input). i've earned enough points on my credit card to get a decent gift certificate from best buy or maybe amazon soon enough, so i might buy a small lcd hdtv from there in the 15-19" range. i'm considering a lot of options, but from july until probably december my game "room" will just be a laptop and whatever chair/couch/floor i'll be occupying at the time.
