I feel really bad about this one.....

I removed The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the Microsoft XBOX this evening!

When I first picked up the original XBOX, one of the games people always talked about was Morrowind. This was when Skyrim was really huge, so I thought it was going to play exactly like it. I'm not a big PC gamer and I had my hesitations going into the game. But, when looking for RPG's on the XBOX, Morrowind was just too large to ignore. When I finally found a Game of the Year copy, I decided that I had to give it a try.

I created my character and went about exploring the world. I got to the second town, joined a guild and knew the next main story mission. I then tried the main story mission several times and I kept dying over and over. Well, I then found out that I need to level up, so I tried the Fighter's Guild mission. All I had to do was kill 3 Rats. And I kept dying to Rats. I kept dying to little rats that I couldn't hit with my large spear. So, I decided to just walk around the world and after walking for hours and only finding like two enemies, I saw that I wasn't closer to leveling up. You add on a directionless game with a task journal that is almost impossible to read and text dumps that go on forever, you leave one confused player.

I can see how the game is good and I can see how many people would latch onto it. The ability to get so immersed in a game can be really appealing. Unfortunately, I don't think that is for me. If I'm walking around confused and directionless, I just get frustrated. I need a checkpoint or something to point me in the right direction. I'm still curious to try the later versions as Oblivion and Skyrim still look interesting. Hopefully, the modern improvements will make me like the game more.

I almost gave up on Crash Bandicoot 1 from the N'Sane Trilogy. I'm not too familiar with the games as I played a Crash Demo back in the day, but never sat down and played through them.

Good lord, the bridge levels: Road to Nowhere and The High Road. I was about to give up on Road to Nowhere. It's like this level was designed by a masochist. I read a strategy that you can still exploit a glitch by running on the ropes, but that still was challenging as Crash's hitbox is round, which makes staying on edges challenging as you're more prone to "roll" off.

After about thirty continues and multiples sessions, I beat the Road to Nowhere. The High Road surprisingly took me less tries later on. But I was about to move on and write off this game. I think I have like 6 levels to go until the final boss. Hoping 2 and 3 are a little bit more polished.

Markies- if you try Morrowind again I'd play it on openMW. The pc version is so much better than dealing with xbox load times.

Both of the next 2 are much more polished experiences, the first one is fun but is definitely rough around the edges.

I ended up prefering the original games over the N-Sane versions, with the possible exception of Crash 3. I especially disliked Crash 1 for the reasons you mention about the hitbox. It made some if the levels much harder than they need to be.

The Spyro collection is really good if you haven't played it yet.

Yeah, that didn't help either.

Dying and then waiting a few minutes for the game to load again wasn't putting me in the best mood.

the game looks good, the trailer shows a decent looking, 8-bit game, and its under 5 dollars so I figured it was worth a shot but it didnt take long before the host of problems began cropping up:

1. cheap deaths everywhere, this is one of those games that are hard for all the wrong reasons. Like your standing in a spot and all of a sudden something falls from the top of the screen instantly killing you, you had no way of knowing it was there, next time you know it is there and you just repeat the process over and over again. This is compounded in a level that is all dark and you have only a small glowing sphere around you with pitfalls and instant death traps everywhere, all completely impossible to see.

2. No checkpoints: the levels are fairly long and there are no checkpoints, which means when you die by something you could not see, it is back to the beginning and you are forced to slog through the whole ordeal again. This is made worse by the fact that when you are not getting instantly killed by something you couldnt see, the game is mind numbingly easy and bland. Which means you walk through boring, easy sections, die by something you cant see, then next time pass that part, and repeat until its over

3. Fake level exits: this is whole new thing I have never seen before. I just beat the first world boss and I then enter into a large sewer level. I make my way to the end and there is a door with a large arrow over it. I enter the door and I am taking back to the last worlds boss, that I now have to fight and defeat again. There is literally no way to know that the door is a trick and I can't imagine how many more times this happens through this atrocious game

This is easily one of the worst games I have ever played in my life, it is actually offensive to me that it exists, and if I ever meet the developers of the game at a random indie games expo I am pretty sure I will choke them out to avenge the hour or 2 of my life I lost playing this atrocious game.

If you love 8-bit retro styled games and own a switch, the trailer for this game will tempt you, no matter how cheap it gets avoid at all costs, it is absolutely terrible and may be the worst game in existence.

Okay everything you said was accurate. What the hell were they thinking??

I guess they were thinking they could slap together a horrible game with decent 8-bit visuals and nostalgic people like us would buy it...they were right

I'm glad you hated it too, it makes me feel a little better that I am not alone in the misery I experienced with this game

It's stunningly bad. I'm actually in awe.

It feels like the developers were influenced by a bunch of crappy "modern-retro" platformers and never bothered to play (or understand) the classics.

It's a shame, because everything could be fixed with a few tweaks. Well, by "fixed" I mean that if the most offensive elements were removed the game would be at least playable, though somewhat mediocre.

I gave up on Bubble Bobble a couple days ago. The first time you fight the boss was way too much for me (in his second form anyhow). I spent like 20-30 minutes retrying and getting nowhere, and it was nothing but frurstrating. I've got other games I enjoy more to spend my time with rather than smash my head against a wall XP. I had enough fun getting there (more or less  ), so I'm okay not finishing it.
