Just got Brawl. It's Horrible!

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I tried with the Classic Controller, Wiimote and GC controller. They all felt off.

Why are you pressing up then? No one does that. Press X or Y. If you aren't using a Gamecube controller....start.

I use the up to jump way of doing things and it's always worked for me. But Cerulean, why press up to jump when you can do as Mozgus says and press X/Y?

I never was a big fan of the Smash Bros. series... but I'm kinda liking this one.

Yeah it's basic, it's easy, and it's shallow. But I like the party game feel... that's what it is there for! I have a house full of gamers (4 of us live here, and guests come over a lot), another party game in my library highly populated with 1 player titles is a breathe of fresh air to my friends.

I, also, have never been big on the Smash Bros. games. I have played the first two few a few hours, and I tried Brawl when my friends got the Japanese version early (they are all huge fans). I just don't really see what the appeal is. A lot of the time you can't really tell what you're doing, there are no moves to learn, only button mashing combos. I don't hate fighters, on the contrary, I quite like them. I just prefer the classic arcade style fighters like Soul Calibur, Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, KOF, the list goes on. I prefer having a game where practice pays off more, like when you pull off that 15 move combo and beat someone's ass with an epic final attack (I know there is some final smash stuff, but it doesn't really seem the same. Needless to say, I will play Brawl some more before making my final decision, but the track record doesn't look good so far (there is my bias coming in, gotta be careful about that).

Also, don't even get me started on Sonic being in there. I still have my balls in a knot about that one.
