Yes, there is pressed lettering on the bottom of it.

There might not be the big sticker, but there is a sticker above it that says C19417943 on it that looks just like the one on another Game Boy Color with an official case.

My friend had one of those Gameboys back when it was at the height of its popularity. This was in the UK so i don't know maybe it wasn't released in the US. To be honest i dont think its that rare, at least not in the UK. I definatly remember seeing them in high street shops when they were on sale and in Gamestation (UK retro shop) recently for the same price as a Purple one. Sorry
