Demon's Crest is pretty short.
Also, both Neugier and Ys V aren't very long, either.

Good list of solid games there, super common (3of4) too which makes them easy and cheap to get. Pilotwings out of what is there, maybe it's a launch game, but I don't think it gets the respect it is due. It's a shame all the releases after were downhill in quality. :\

Pilotwings for SNES was a North American Launch title. Pilotwings64 was also a launch title for N64.
I still assert that a beat 'em up is the way to go. Play Battletoads in Battlemaniacs.

I think I come close to that just in the Edit Units screen (over the course of the whole game anyways).dsheinem wrote:Really? I think 2-3 hours a day X 7 days is pretty reasonable. Get up an hour earlier than everyone, stay up an hour later, etc.Tanooki wrote:
It's thanksgiving and unless you're alone finding 20+ hours in a few days to take down an adventure like a Zelda type or a RPG probably isn't realistic.
I vote for the usual:
Castlevania IV
Mega Man X
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country (1,2, or 3)
Super Metroid
Contra III
or just play fighters, racers, puzzle games, and beat-em-ups all week
As for RPG's, it can be done, but usually doesn't happen. A friend and I once set out to beat Final Fantasy III in a weekend. We didn't make it (partially because I was obsessed with getting some of Gua's rages), but it was still good fun.
...just another lost soul...
Re: Quick request: SNES game that can beaten in less than a

There's one level of Hook that, for some reason, will always remind me of Thanksgiving Day. So that's why it immediately comes to mind.
It's a platformer. There's no password or save function, but the game isn't that long. I think there's 10 levels. A week should be more then enough time to be able to beat it.
The game looks and sounds great. It has lovely colors in levels (except for when you're in a cave or something). The music is great too. It uses some tracks from the movie as well as original tracks. The original tracks are very memorable. It controls pretty good. It might seem a little stiff at first, compared to a Mario or Sonic game, but the controls are pretty tight and responsive.
Pretty sure the game engine was further tweaked and made into Skyblazer, a SNES hidden gem that's been going up in price recently.
Re: Quick request: SNES game that can beaten in less than a
I didn't know Hook and Skyblazer were related. Sucks about the price though. The SNES library has been heavily mined at this point for its hidden gems.
Re: Quick request: SNES game that can beaten in less than a
Correct, they were both developed by Ukiyotei, who also did Spawn on the SNES and mainly work for SNK later on.Ziggy587 wrote:Pretty sure the game engine was further tweaked and made into Skyblazer, a SNES hidden gem that's been going up in price recently.
Would you consider shmups? A few I can sit down and beat quickly: Darius Twin, Hyperzone, UN Squadron, and Gradius III.

I wouldn't say the SNES has been heavily mined on gems, abused sure, on stuff that picked up as trendy to screw people on but there are plenty of very solid and enjoyable games that still fell under the radar you can snap up for under the $25 mark, maybe closer to $10.
We got a topic over at digital press going over just that and we're fishing out some nice stuff you can get for not much at all.

I don't necessarily mean price, but attitude. We have reached a point where Goof Troop is being heralded as one of the greatest SNES games ever made. Yes, quality games like Hook, Smart Ball, and Phantom 2040 won't set you back much, but as more and more people turn to the SNES to collect, they have discovered a variety of games and bolstered them well beyond their value.
