I actually referenced your holodeck concept a few months back for a business venture one of my coworkers. He found a police training simulator (http://www.virtra.com/v-range/) that he wanted to setup and I suggested your holodeck for a sideroom of the property. He, and his buddies, were blown away with the VR setup and are currently looking at investing into either the cyberwalk or omni treadmill for a business version of their product.
There is also the Cyberith Virtualizer which is entering Kickstarter, which is positioning itself to be a direct competitor to the Omni.

There is also redirected walking, which works by using an external camera to watch your position in a room. As you approach a wall, you design your product to start slightly shifting the scenery to direct you to walk in circles to avoid running into real-life walls. It only works in hallways (because you need visual cues to know not to walk in a certain direction) but it's something being explored.

Good heads up on the Cyberith Virtualizer. These guys are ready to drop up to big money into this business, and that may be the ticket. Thanks again.

If they're looking to drop big money into the business, there is a military grade version of the Omni that isn't being sold to general consumers that has a metal base and the hydraulic stands of the virtualizer with a bunch of other improvements. You can see it here:

That link should take you directly to the clip, but if it doesn't, it's 2 minutes and 5 seconds in. The guy is running very hard on it in that clip.

I have a close relationship with Virtuix, I could get you in touch with their developer relations director if you'd like, and i'm sure they could talk to your friends about the military version if interested.

No idea, we just all of the sudden started seeing that video posted around the net. I have no idea who made it.

RyaNtheSlayA is from Denver. The Goldfish on YouTube says he is a kiwi. Probably different.
