my humble game room
Re: my humble game room
Awesome, soon you will outgrow it though! You are off to a good start. May the low price gods be with you!

Very nice. Great system.
What do you need to make it work? If you have the power adapter, TV cable (you can get RF or AV), and a 9-pin joystick (I use an Atari 2600 stick) then you're all set. There are bunches of games on carts so the disk/tape stuff is purely optional.
Simply put, it's as easy to use as any retro console.

I think my main issue was the included video cable is some old standard my TV doesn't support. It looks similar to a coaxial cable, but the metal plug on the end is fatter than normal.
Also mine came with a floppy disc drive, but I don't have any floppies and I never set out to obtain any on eBay or someplace. If I did sort things out and get it working, though, it would be pretty cool to figure out how to make sweet C64 music like the YouTuber LukHash does in this video:

Re: my humble game room
You just need a simple adapter to hook it to your television:

An alternative is to get AV cables:

Re: my humble game room
RF is horrible. Get an AV cable but make sure that you buy a "double mono" stereo.
I just bought 2 sealed packs of 3M floppy for 5€ but still need the USB-Floppy adapter or a cheao x1541 cable and booting into DOS.
Don't mess with silly joysticks, it is compatible with Mega Drive pads and arcade sticks.

The first C64 joystick port shares some connections with an important chip in the system and it somewhat fragile as is. That's why most games use port 2. I've seen some things that say the C64 might be unhappy with the multiplexing and whatnot that Gen pads to. I personally wouldn't want to risk it.

I wouldn't be concerned about your setup not being "anywhere near as impressive as some of the game rooms on here". There is charming about a simple "bare bones" setup. Your TV is a great size, it is a CRT so the retro stuff will look fantastic, and like other's have said, you have most of the basic systems needed for a good retro system. However, I would add a PS2 that way you get access to thousands of amazing games.

That ps2 part is a good point...there are tons of games on there to play(not to mention kingdom hearts, but I digress since I'm only mentioning it since i enjoy that series), and plenty that i haven't discovered yet XD

Bump for a July 13 update. I got a Wii, a pikachu doll, and some other neat things. The pics are a bit more thorough this time.

I'll just assume it is Mr. Bean's fault you haven't gotten around to destickering.
