Between this and the new Legend of Zelda game, Nintendo is bringing it hard right now (which is to be expected since its competitors just launched new consoles). Given the PS4 and Xbox One's lukewarm receptions (and their focus on media applications), I am currently leaning toward a WiiU.

To be fair, however, the WiiU didn't exactly knock people's socks off on release, and unless I get an amazing deal, I probably will not be purchasing any of them for at least a year.

If we get the bundle that the UK is getting, I would buy that one:

For 300 pounds, you get the pro console, 3 games, and a wiimote.

You forgot the most important item, a hat to wear while you play your new Mario games.

picking up my preorder for this after work, excited to play this with my Wife, she loves the 3d mario games (64, Galaxy 1&2) and I am more of a fan of 2d mario's.

This game looks so, so good. Can't wait to hear what you guys think! I'm-a gonna be playing a ton of handheld stuff at the moment, so I won't get to it until the new year.

You never did play Galaxy did you?

Koji Konda orchestrated stuff is incredible.

I did, both of them, and I just don't think orchestral arrangements mesh well with Mario games. I'm on my own on that, I know.

A few things.

The game is drop dead beautiful, technically and with its art direction. It's one of those titles that makes you rethink what the WiiU might actually be capable of.

The soundtrack is nothing but stellar, there also appears to be a good number of unique tracks so you're not constantly hearing repeats. The remixes of classic tunes are also really really nice.

I am having more fun with this game than I have had with a game this year since Fire Emblem. It's that good. Everything is just so well made. I feel like a kid again.

What a job well done Nintendo.

(Cat Mario is super adorable too)

Agreed 100% with every statement here!

I just got to the first castle and holy crap, this game is just amazing! every level has me wondering what I will see next (surfing on the back of a loch ness monster?!) The music is very much like Mario Galaxy ie: AMAZING, it has lighthearted tunes that get you bouncing, and it has the epic orchestral songs that I loved in Galaxy that really can move you.

The game looks amazing as well, much better than any video online can convey, rich colors and everything is so crisp, I am pretty sure back in the 16 bit days, this is what people thought games would look like in the future. This could easily shape up to be my favorite game this year, every level so far has had a smile on my face.

aaaand....Cat Mario is great!
