I've actually been wanting to make a thread like this for a while now, I'm glad some one finally did!
I like Telecasters a lot too. And I absolutely LOVE the butterscotch with black pickguard look. The thing I don't like though is the vintage style bridge. The modern Tele bridge has a saddle for each string, you have better control over string height and intonation that way. Unfortunately, my Tele is a Squire. It's not all bad though, it's the 25th anniversary model and has amazing sounding pups. The neck is a humbucker, but it sounds more single coil like, and the bridge is an actual single coil but a little hotter than normal (because of the humbucker in the neck). It's well built, but like all my guitars, I need some money to fix it up. I need to pull the frets and level the fretboard, then it'll be great.
That's my current situation with pretty much every one of my guitars. For one reason or another, I need money to make them "right" and I don't have the money.
My current favorite guitar is my MIM Strat, it's just what I've been playing most of the time for the past few years. I put the Dimarzio (my new favorite pup manufacture) Area pickup set in it, so it sounds a LOT better than stock. I've also added a push/pull pot for a "neck on" switch. This gives you two more pickup combinations, all three pups and neck+bridge which is great because it sounds like a Telecaster. I'm at a crossroads with it though. What I really wanna do is build a custom Warmoth Strat, but I don't have the money. Normally I would just upgrade the MIM Strat (it really just needs a better bridge and some roller string trees) but it's still a 21 fret and I'd love to get the contoured neck heel I could get with a Warmoth or like they have on the new American Deluxe. The frets are also starting to get worn down a good bit because of its heavy use, so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do.
What has been my favorite guitar since I bought it in high school is my LTD MH-100. I love the M, but I hate reverse headstocks. The MH has the fast M neck, without a reverse headstock, and the H body. Awesome metal guitar. It's the base 100 model, but I actually like the way the basswood body sounds. It's light and has a "hollow" sound to it. The more expensive models are mahogany with maple tops - too muddy. I've upgraded mine with EMG 81s, and finally got a real Floyd bridge with a brass big block. This guitar screams, plays fast, I love it. The problem is I've played it too much, the frets are so worn down it's starting to have tuning problems. It needs a refret - something I'm still learning. I wont attempt a refret on this guitar until I'm perfectly confident at doing it (I'm practicing on junk necks).
I've fallen in and out of love with my LTD MV-200. The MV line was only around for a year or two. It has the M neck, and a unique strat style body. It's a short scale though. It gets great tone, although I don't like to use it for everything because of the shorter scale.
Then there's my SG, which is another of my favorites. It's an Epiphone, but with a few upgrades can be top notch. I've done so many pickup swaps in it, the screw holes for the PU rings are getting worn out lol. Right now I have a Dimarzio Super Distortion 2 in there, and I wanna get a PAF Pro for the neck but... no money. At least all this guitar needs is one pickup and it'll be all set.
Then there's my custom mongrel guitar. It's a parts job. I basically had two Frankenstein guitars that sucked, I used the neck from one and the body from the other to make something better. I have an Epiphone neck from I don't even know what. It's got a banana headstock, like an Explorer or something else. I was originally just gonna make something playable and not care so much, but I found out that the Squire Affinity Strat body I was using wasn't plywood like I thought. It's alder or ash I guess, but real wood. That being the case, I would wanna make it better than just playable. It's put together, but after doing some pickup swaps I found out what pickups I want in there. I just need the money to get them.
A friend moved out of state and left me his Epi LP, I don't plan on giving it back. It's my most put together guitar, and it's not even mine lol. I'm not a big fan of LPs, but I do like to play on them from time to time.
I recently got an Ovation Celebrity something or other, and I have a Fender 12-string acoustic that I wish was an Ovation instead.
Current amps are a small Fender combo I keep in my bedroom and a Marshall DSL with a 4x12 cab.
I'll try and take some better pics, but for right now, I actually have an old pic still on Photobucket.
Also found this on my Photobucket...
http://s59.photobucket.com/user/Ziggy58 ... s.mp4.html edit: The deal with this thing is this: I use to talk on a now defunct forum. There was talk between the two different (made in Tiwain or Japan) Boss BF2 flangers, so after I got a Japan model I made a recording to show the difference. Decided to throw in the FLL too because we always talked about the coveted DFL. Recording sounds poor because I did it with an mp3 player and played like ass.
Sorry to bitch so much
