What about next-gen?

Re: What about next-gen?
I'm in the camp of "I'll wait" too. I don't really have any price threshold in mind or anything, but basically when there's enough games that sufficiently interest me on either console I'll plunge.
Wii U is the most likely thing I'll get next, mainly because of Wind Waker HD. I'm a huge sucker for both Zelda and HD remakes.

Re: What about next-gen?
I've never bought a console on launch, and I've rarely bought a console with in its first year of release (usually 2 years is bout when I get a console, at best.....). But I'm thinking of breaking that trend and actually keeping up with the Jones for once
.
If the PS4 comes with a PSVita and it is only 500 dollars, then I'm probably going to want that.
If not, I'll likely try to get the Wii-U.
All else fails......get something older like the PSP or PS3 and become behind the curve yet again!

I am also the same, this is the one time I can actually buy the console + 5 games and not even care about it...Yet I care more than any other time!fastbilly1 wrote:While I may have more money than previous generations, I also have more patience.
I think it's mostly because I got over the "I must have the latest stuff" or the "I must keep up".
Truth is I realise that if you don't struggle to keep up, gaming is quite cheap and also neverending...I mean, even looking at the current gen library right now, there's at least 100 games I own that I haven't played including titles like Bioshock series which are must play and more than 100 I don't even own yet...
For 500$ I can get a lot of current gen/PS2 era/PS1 era/older games that would probably last me for the next 5 years!
I guess I'm having a "retro crisis", the new and shiny is appealing to me
BTW!
P.S. Sorry for misunderstanding I meant getting rid of my the 360/PS3 games not the retro stuff

Re: What about next-gen?
I have a WiiU and gaming PC. No real need for anything else really. I'll probably pick up an Xbox One before a PlayStation 4 but that still wont be until late 2014.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: What about next-gen?
I have a launch Wii U and that is the only next-gen console I'll be picking up for the foreseeable future. Nintendo puts out highly polished games with tight mechanics. PS4 will eventually get something that looks interesting to me I'm sure but nothing that I will just have to play. You never know though. I am just sick to death of easy peasy, cake walk, AAA, narrative driven, cinematic experiences and MP focused FPS. I just want to play games man. Retro gaming, Wii U and my recently acquired to play Dragon's Crown PS3 will provide me with enough gaming experience to last quite a while I imagine. I do have a gaming capable PC though.
Even when it comes to more pure gaming experiences certain genres just hold no appeal to me. I do not have any interest in racing games outside of some cart racers and arcade racers. I really dislike vs. fighting games and I have almost no interest in rhythm games. Sony's first party output rarely interest me because of this. Uncharted, TLoU, GT, Infamous, Killzone, etc...I just don't care about. I also don't know much about them because I don't pay much attention so I could be wrong about a franchise. Puppeteer looks interesting but I think it is a PS3 game so I have that covered.
In short, Wii U is my next-gen.

Yeah, I agree Demon Souls was exactly like that.Octopod wrote:I have a launch Wii U and that is the only next-gen console I'll be picking up for the foreseeable future. I actually plan to pick that one and Demon's Souls up soon here. They look good to me.Violent By Design wrote:Yeah, I agree Demon Souls was exactly like that.Octopod wrote:I have a launch Wii U and that is the only next-gen console I'll be picking up for the foreseeable future. I need to look through a PS3 recommendation thread sometime because I do not even know what is good and suited to my taste that is out there for it. 3D Dot Heroes looks neat. LBP looks neat but I heard the mechanics are bad. I suppose by now it is cheap enough to see for myself though. Anyhow, I guess that is soon to be last-gen stuff.
Re: What about next-gen?
I guess I'll be the first person with zero interest in the WiiU. My Gamecube and Wii remain pretty much my least played consoles that I have ever owned and I am pretty sure the WiiU would rank among them. I can't say Nintendo has been doing anything wrong, probably the opposite, but they are just simply not doing a thing for me in terms of games.
Although I like the idea of PC gaming, the games that I enjoy just don't come out on PC. It kind of sucks because I would definitely be getting them if they were. I'm talking about mainly JP developed niche games, which very rarely land anywhere but on console and handhelds.
I won't be getting any new stuff anytime soon. What looks most interesting to me at the moment is a Vita, and once it builds up a significant library of games that appeal to me I'll have to see how I feel about buying one then. I don't think I'll ever own a new Xbox after the 360, and the PS4 will have to do some pretty amazing things and build up an incredible library to sway me.

Re: What about next-gen?
I'll probably get a PS4 next fall assuming there's enough games that garner my interest. MGSV and the Evil Within have my attention but then again they'll be on current gen as well which makes me kinda go "hmmm..."
I was interested in Watch_Dogs but after seeing some more gameplay I'm not exactly feeling that excited anymore.
I've already got a Wii U and most of the exclusive games they're showing excite me greatly. So basically I'll be okay for a while. >=]
EDIT: Also have a Vita now!

Re: What about next-gen?
I will be buying the PS4 day one. Mainly because I plan to get one in the first year anyway, so why not buy it day one and get Driveclub and Resogun for free? Waiting for the first price drop is stupid. It will probably take at least 1.5 years and will be $50 off. Why not pay $50 more, get a few free games and start enjoying day one?
