Which is the best Twisted Metal on the PSX?
Re: Which is the best Twisted Metal on the PSX?
While we're on the subject I thought Rogue Trip was really good too. I think it is better than TM 3 and 4, but I would still take TM 2 over it. Kind of a shame this genre is basically dead and never saw much success outside the PSX days.

It is dead now, but it had a decent life on pc. Heck it even had an MMO. Rumor is that there is an autodueling kickstarter coming for a PC title, but Ive not seen it yet.brunoafh wrote: Kind of a shame this genre is basically dead and never saw much success outside the PSX days.

I wish racing games were interesting in general thesedays. I was a big fan during the PSX/N64 - PS2 days. Burnout was alright but overstayed its welcome by a lot. Beyond kart racers, and action stuff like the Twisted Metal games, I wish there was more stuff out there like Rush. Secret ramps launching your across the maps, hidden Mountain Dew cans, giant office levels, etc. Looks realistic on the outside, but the games had no logic and were awesome for it.
2049 did have some duel mode too I think?

Amen! this game seriously needs a reboot in this gen, you think games like this would thrive in an online multiplayer focused generation.Xeogred wrote:Vigilante 8.

Have you tried the Wipeout games? The series has been golden the past few years.

I've only played 3, I think. I had quite a bit of fun with it back in the day. I remember a big fire truck vehicle that carried a giant nuclear missile silo on the back as it's special weapon. >=]

Picked up TM2 w/case 'n' manuel for 10 bucks the other night. Gotta say its quite different than I remember. Definitely didn't age well. Still a lot of fun nostalgia wise tho.
Loved the first Wipeout. Not sure about the newer one's. If I remember correctly the company that made those games went under. I Actually ended up getting Wipeout 3 the same night I picked up TM2 and I have to say the graphics blew me away. Made me look to see if it was on a PSX "Games that Pushed the Limit" guide but oddly enough I can't find one.brunoafh wrote:Have you tried the Wipeout games? This answer isn't wrong, it is better than the Twisted Metal games. But I'd go with 2nd Offense, myself, if it's down to 1 game.Xeogred wrote:Vigilante 8.
