My cousin and I used to play Sonic ALOT but he always INSISTED on being Sonic because ya know it was his genesis. Also he was a spoiled brat and still is and even now at 31 and he pushing 30 I still have the Attitude of anything you can I do I can do better towards everything he does.
But anyways there are some fond memories of playing co op in Sonic 2 and 3 but most Sonic 2 All these years later I have Sonic 2 memorized out of spite for all those years being forced to play as Tails.
Ok more Arcade stories? Ok more Arcade Stories.
My Grandmother in the last 20 or so years of her life was very Ill but she'd still take me to the Arcade, this Arcade is now a GNC nutrition center and has been for sometime. But Man oh man did Grandma token me into some Classics, Ninja Warriors, TMNT which she provided not only but but the 3 kids playing with me enough tokens to take us all the way to shredder, There's also Ninja Gaiden arcade, Robocop, Just name a Major Arcade game pre Street Fighter and grandma watched me play it.Outrun was always a favorite too. If she didn't watch me play it she was in the Pole Position machine. Remember when I said she was Ill? Well to keep from passing out my Grandmother would have while I gamed take a nap in Pole position.
When I was around five my brother and I played Smash Bros. Melee (GC) on a tv that was on a rolling tv stand while I had Mono.
Too many to count for me. The first one would be watching my Father play Missile Command on his 2600 at night with the television being the only light in the room. I still have the Atari as well as the game (cib). I have no idea how old I was at the time, but it was one of the first times my Father and I ever acted like friends.
Plus the game still kicks ass, preferably in a dark room late at night.
I have many great video game memories from childhood.
1) Age 6... getting picked up early from school by mom as a total surprise. She had gotten me Dr Mario, was taking me to lunch at Chilis, and I didn't have to go back to school the rest of the day. Not the best parenting in retrospect but she was the best mom in the world to me that day.
2) Age 8... Heading to the beach for the weekend and being surprised by my grandpa when we stopped at K-Mart and bought a Super Nintendo. Needless to say I didn't spend much time playing on the beach that weekend.
3) Age 9... Knowing there was a Sega Menacer under the christmas tree a few days before christmas, every night for like 3 days straight I would stay up super late, sneak out of my room, take the gift to my room, unwrap it carefully, play it for an hour or two, package it back up and put it back under the tree. No one ever knew I did that!
4) Age 12... N64 Launch day, heading to toys r us after 3 years of anticipation, bringing it home to play for an hour before having to go to tennis practice. I left 3 of my friends at my house while I went to practice and I was absolutely dying to get back home for the next 2 hours. They had unlocked like 15 new stars in Mario 64 by the time I got home.
5) Age 15... 9/9/99 + EB games + $450 I had saved = Enough Said
6) Age 23... Camping out for the Wii launch on a cold november night in Austin by myself. My non-gaming friends thought I was nuts because they were hitting up 6th street to party and wanted me with them. I made them bring me Wendys at 2am when they got out of the bar instead. That was the best $0.99 chili ever!
I love all of these memories so much it is probably the reason why I am such a retro gamer!

I remember my parents bought me minority report (good game)for the gamecube,
and me calling my best friend over for the night.we(by "we" I mean he) stayed up late, what was sopossed to be a "killer" night turn out to be one of the worst for me.
what happen was I fell asleep at 12, while he continued on to fight future crimes in (thought) progress. I woke up around 4 only to find him on level 52(otherwise known as the last stage) in the middle of a spoiler cutscene pump to beat the game and go to bed

Arpuhguh? Fffpiss? Bah!
"Shmup" is far more elegant!
One time when I was about five, I had to clean my room. So I decided to put a game in Dad's Super Nintendo to play once I got done. I picked Doom, probably because of that angry red cartridge. I worked as fast as I could, my mouth practically watering at the thought of some Super 'Tendo time. When I finished, tears of joy nearly welled up in my eyes. I turned the system on, grabbed the controller and...
got killed by the first enemy.
I gave up and threw pillows at a wall.
I also remember when I was playing Super Mario Galaxy (here I'm nine) and my little cousin wanted to play. So I gave him an unplugged classic controller and said he was the star pointer thing.
When I was 18 I bought my Dreamcast with money I got from my Great Grandmother Her name was Norhimzar which is Armenian for get this Naomi. That Dreamcast no longer works and I haven't been arsed to try to fix it (I should it's modded) I ordered it on line from a Motorola comeplex the Day of Wrestlemania 2000 with Import copies of Street Fighter III W Impact and Marvel VS Capcom 2.
I'm not sure if this counts, but I remember one winter I played The Legend of Zelda all the way through in one day. I'm from South Texas, so "winter" back then was probably a low of 40s, maybe. I remember it was cold and rainy, my favorite type of weather. I didn't turn on the lights, had plenty coming in from the windows, although it was overcast because of the rain. It was just nice and grey. I remember being bundled up on my bed playing Zelda on a 13 inch TV that my aunt gave the family.
Every cold rainy morning, I remember that day and it just feels nice.
