Re: Retro DS Platformers
The Legend of Starfy, Sonic Rush Series and yes, Henry Hatsworth is totally worth it, that is a great game!

Re: Retro DS Platformers
I just started Super Mario 64 DS out of curiosity. Don't know if I'll finish it, but the controls work pretty well and the first few levels were lots of fun. I know it's not SNES-style retro, but it's still an awesome older platformer.

Re: Retro DS Platformers
I saw Kirby mentioned so I'll second that. You have Squeak Squad and Mass Attack.
I also second Mega Man Zero Collection. Fantastic games and they have a mode on that where you can string together all four games one after another at a cost of lower difficulty.
Now to something original: Mario vs Donkey Kong is a platformer puzzler and is a great game. There are two retail releases and one downloadable game. All a spiritual successor to Donkey Kong 1994. Also another suggestion is Shantae which is a sequel to the gem on the CGB. The thing is that it is only for the DSiware platform via Download. I'm not sure what DS you have. I'm taking a 50/50 shot you may have a DSi.

Re: Retro DS Platformers
Try the import "Umihara Kawase Shun." It's a horribly ugly game, but tons of fun. You play as a Japanese schoolgirl with some sort of bungee cord attached to a grappling hook. You can swing down, but not up, and the idea is to open doors. The levels are completely bizarre places. Places high school girls and wooden doors don't belong.
It looks like there's an HG101 article about it: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/umihara/umihara.htm

Re: Retro DS Platformers
Umihara is perfect game, but that score/time/whatever meter in middle of screen is annoying.
That is why i prefer the PSP version

Also Kirby Superstar Ultra fits the bill fof OP considering it was originally a SNES game!
