Any good examples of edutainment?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

MECC was responsible for a lot of good edutainment games, like the previously mentioned Oregon Trail.

And of course Carmen Sandiego from Broderbund. An edutainment game series that actually managed to become a multimedia franchise of sorts speaks for itself.

I just remembered a game that we had on the computers in grade school. It was called Googolpede, and it was your standard Snake game, but the edutainment part was that on the screen it would show a math equation, and you had to eat either T or F, depending on if the equation was correct or not.

When language learning software is compared to a game, red flags should be raised. I've used it and can't vouch for it at all. It barely taught me anything. I completed the entire Japanese program, and have learned more on my own study time, and through watching cartoons and reading comics. It flashes pictures at you, and you guess what word the picture should be associated with. That's it. It teaches zero grammar or language foundation. The only thing "game-like" about it would be how it gives out scores after the mindless quiz sessions. It's meant purely for people that need to learn some basic words and sentences as fast as possible, and aren't planning on continuing their study of the language upon the completion of their business trip or whatever. /rosetta stone is trash rant

Anyway, Math Munchers and Word Munchers is where it's at. I used to play those games like crazy back in the day and would gladly play either one now.

Oregon Trail and Sim Tower were the educational games I used to play as a lad.

Number Munchers FTW. That game was - and is - awesome. Does anyone know if there are any modern versions, reimaginings, homages, etc.?
