Re: Ever buy a console for just ONE (or two) games?
I bought the sega dreamcast, and wii for 2 games.
I did buy some other games for the two systems, but I would give them a 6/10 instead of a 10/10.
I average about 8 games per system I own, probably not as much as a gamer as most do to my pickyness. I usually get rid of games, but I have about 5 per system I enjoy.
Genesis- 8-10 games
Dreamcast 3-5 games
snes- 5-8 games
neo geo pocket color 1-2 games
wii- 2 games
gba- 3 games

I loooooooove Micro Cabin games and Guardian War is one of my favorites. Yeah, I know it doesn't stand up to, say, Ogre Battle or Shining Force, but it's still a solid title.Menegrothx wrote:I'd like to get Turbografx-CD just for Rondo of Blood and Ys book I & II. If I got one, I'd start searching for hidden gems and buy some cheap ones just for the heck of it though. Why? It's not a particularly good SRPG or anything. It does have a certain early console "3D" graphics-charm to it, but there's not very much strategy or depth involved in the actual gameplay. There's better stuff on 3DO, Star Control, Wing Commander, Gex, D, Samurai Showdown, Street Fighter...BoneSnapDeez wrote: I got a 3DO last December specifically to play Guardian War. I may get some more 3DO games eventually, but they tend to be expensive and hard to find. I really want Lucienne's Quest, but it's absurdly rare and I'd just be better off buying the Japanese Saturn port.
Oh, I almost forgot that I originally bought a Dreamcast specifically to play Skies of Arcadia. But when I realized how cheap Dreamcasts were (I thought I would end up paying $75) I ended up buying a couple games along with it - Phantasy Star Online and Evolution 2. I eventually got SoA and for a couple of years I only had three Dreamcast games.

Technically the only reason I have an NES was because of Super Mario Bros. But, of course, that was just a gateway game.
I usually buy consoles because of the manufacturer and the inherit assurance of titles to be released. Sometimes, I buy a system because a library has already amassed.
But, I would never throw down $300 or something to play just a single game. I would start buying arcade boards before doing that.

Bought a PS2 about a year ago solely for Sly Cooper. Ended up getting a lot more games for it later though.
I also got my Xbox 360 four years back just for Halo 3. In my opinion there was not really anything else worth playing for the system back then other than Halo 3, of course that is not the case anymore.
I guess I just bought the Neo Geo Pocket about a year ago to play a couple of the awesome SNK fighters on it too.
I would not say I like collecting consoles more than games, I'd just say I like playing a lot of games for different systems. Games are still way more fun to collect than consoles for me.
Also, at least get Gex for the 3DO!

Got the PC-FX for only a handful of games.
- Battle Heat
- Last Imperial Prince
- Chip Chan Kick!
- Zeroigar
- Zenki FX
I've enjoyed all of them. As well I should considering the type of money I paid especially for the last two on that short list.

GBA for River City Ransom EX
Re: Ever buy a console for just ONE (or two) games?
Most of my consoles started from just wanting to play a couple games. But that quickly changes as I research what is available.
Before I know it, I have a good collection going.
For the Wii, I only own:
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
and
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Still don't have a system yet to play on...
...but you can be sure that once I do, I'll have to add Skyway Sword, Smash Bros Brawl, and Super Paper Mario to to lot (among others, I'm sure to find).

...just another lost soul...

I keep going back to Nintendo mainly for Zelda/Metroid. There ends up being a lot more other titles along the way, but yeah. Those are the winners.

That's how I feel about Ms. Pac-Man and Centipede for the Atari 7800.Xeogred wrote:I keep going back to Nintendo mainly for Zelda/Metroid. There ends up being a lot more other titles along the way, but yeah. Those are the winners.

When I first picked up a Sega CD, I pretty much got it for Sonic CD and Popful Mail.
I never did pick up a copy of Popful Mail, and I eventually got rid of the system. I want to get another one one of these days, again for those same two titles.
