I never understood the hatred against RE4, it's a 10/10 game. It has a real horror soundtrack just like the original 3 games. No one can argue that the first third of the game isn't done well. Sure the castle and the island don't look as decayed and dark as the village so they aren't as scary, but they do have some good moments (playing as unarmed Ashley, pushing the heavy trash cans with Ashley while the Iron Maidens are chasing you in the garbage pit, the regenerators in the freezer, the invisible enemies in the sewer and the boss which you have to freeze with nitrous oxidie).
This part. I honestly can't comprehend why any fan of the series could actually play through this part of the game and then actually say with a straight face that the game has no resemblance to the classic titles or no horror elements.

The line reading of "I lost over Seventy Thousand People!...including the President because of Simmons" is hilarious. Not as hilarious as the title screen of "Resident Evil ZEROOOO!", but still funny.

I have RE4 on the Wii and completely suck at playing it. I've thought about picking it up on the PS2 or PC as it seems like it would be a great game if I could handle the controls. Seems like keyboard and mouse would be the way to go.

You can use classic controller on the wii version iirc.

PC version is kinda a botched port.

It takes some time to get used to the wii controls but they are superb once you do. One of the few games where waggle controls (during quick time events) actually work, they're more intense that way.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box
