Re: dreamcast s video or composite
^ I last bought HDTV's four years ago (50" Plasma, 37 and 32 " LCDs) and they all have s-video, which while not as good as a CRT, is still passable (esp the DC when it works) on a HDTV. I didn't realize they took that functionality out and was looking at upgrading the one in my office. Good looking out.

Yes, svid on a plasma does look pretty decent. I can't the same though for a LCD, LED TV. As a matter of fact I'm sure many plasma sets still have Svid connection, but not for the other 2 though.

I dont have scart but i do have s video on the back of my tv. I own a 21 in or so for my bedroom. My wii and ps3 is in the living room. My ps1 has a lcd screen on it so it doesn't matter. Although if i manage to wait maybe i can find that s video that has the dreamcast/64/psone all in one. Iwonder what tekken 3 or driver 2 or for that matter any of my 2d gems look like with s video.

Don't fuck with those awful multi console cables! They are, for the majority garbage quality. buy svid cables individually for each console, otherwise stick to composite! I can tell you personally speaking, that your 3D games will look nice on Svid, but your 2D titles benefit even more ususally.

What's wrong with the VGA box being sold from Racketboy right now? It's $30, but it's also got S-Video and Composite ports too. (You use your own normal S-Video/Composite cables.)
Still, S-Video is much clearer than composite, and if you can spend $10 on an S-Video cable, go for it. Some games won't run in VGA mode, even with swapping tricks and boot discs.

I don't know, I've had a few of those multi-console cables and at the very least I can attest that s-video through those looked better than official composite cables did...

I have tested av cords and s video cords for the dreamcast for soul calibur. I can see a differance. Not night to day differance but enough to say it looks alot better
Re: dreamcast s video or composite
Yes! Svid gives you a much cleaner picture over standard composite. Wait til you play that very same game in VGA. Really prutty!
