they've been talking about this for years:

I don't really see how it would work. The game itself could have been a six hour movie to any on-looker. I'm fairly sure they'll fuck it up. But of course, I'll see it.

I think we'll eventually see one, but I'm not going to hold my breath. So far the best we've got is probably Silent Hill.

Hopefully it gets shot down eventually like other horrible game to movie ideas.

I'm fairly sure Sony will back Trank financially.

Kind of scary, but you never know; this could turn out well (if Trank isn't directing).

Again, I don't have high hopes but come on, it's an adaptation. Of course they can't make a two hour long movie that's exactly like the game and you shouldn't expect them to. And what fun would it be if you were just watching a movie that's like watching someone play the game?

I also know that this has been talked about for years and I won't believe it until I see it either, but the idea always gets me excited. I don't even watch movies, let alone new movies, but this idea interests me enough that I'd want to check it out (unless it's in 3D, that might be a deal breaker).

Yeah let's destroy another great game with a awful movie...

If they want to make a movie as a tribute or really respecting the game spirit they will make a good movie, but if they just want to make money they will screw up all the thing.

I still remember resident evil... and prince of persia...

I watch movies, even new movies, and this idea is sink or swim. It would have to be Clash of the Titan's-esque to stand a chance in making money. Hardcore gamers are great for the box office, but kids who know what the hell the movie is titled after brings in bigger bucks.

It's gong to have to sell itself in an one minute trailer...SOTC is not based on brevity, so there are a lot of challenges in the script and not making the entire movie look like a cartoon (then again people accept and excuse shitty cgi today). More than likely Sony is buying the brand of sotc, and its related characters, and SOTC really doesn't have much of a story (ending excluded).

Ten bucks says if this movie is made one scene will include the protagonist to go Jonah and the Whale (actually there is NO whale in the Bible, just "big fish" which a whale couldn't be since it is a mammal) on a Colossus.

I would've preferred a Doom movie that was like watching someone playing the game over the Doom movie we got.

Meaning....what exactly?

Are you saying that cgi is shitty in general? Or are you assuming that the cgi will be shitty just to back up your point of claiming the movie will very likely suck?

It does have a story.

I can see how the beginning and end can be told with little to no problems. Maybe it'll show how the girl "died"(?), maybe even give us some insight as to what exactly their relationship is, there's Wander stealing the sword that he later used to slay the colossi, his journey to the forbidden land, him meeting Dormin and all that. And then of course there's the ending.

The evident problem is with what happens in between. I don't know how they would plan on showing the search for the colossi, the actual colossi and the battles but I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work. Even if it ends up not working very well.
