I kinda see the Half Life comparison. I dunno, it has a slightly cartoony look, but manages to seem real, which gave me the Bioshock idea. It's cool though.

Also, they argue steampunk over dieselpunk.

Well, considering that Viktor Antonov did the concept art for both...

A key concept of the Dishonored universe is that everything runs on whale oil, which I'd put more on the diesel than the steam side.

The devs themselves said steampunk.

Whatever, it's a possibly good game and we're both interested.

Indeed. *Lights pipe*

Oh, indeed.

I'm impressed by Arkane's publicity treatment for this game so far. Unlike Bioshock Infinite, which has had a veritable flood of screenshots and videos and interviews, Arkane pretty much waltzed in, announced every Looking Glass fan's wet dream and then went back to work.

I laughed when I saw Harvey Smith in the video. That guy is awesome but hilariously goofy. Had no idea this is where he's been.

I'll never forget his quote from the Invisible War interviews: "We fucked up."

I always kind of figured it was Warren's touch that made Deus Ex so special though, but who knows.

Bunch of more screens:

The funny thing is, this almost even kind of looks like an evolved Dark Engine. Hell, the last screenshot looks a lot like the bank/mansion level I'm at in Thief 2 right now. It doesn't look quite as overly colorful and cartoony like Bioshock too, this looks amazing.

First(?) hands-on impressions.

What can I say? It sounds fantastic. Glad they ditched the open world design; generic fetch quest and hoop-jumping cheapens those games, because an open world that's not worth exploring is far worse than a straight line through a beautiful one. Not to suggest that's what this is; the level design sounds a lot like Thief.

Ditto, I might even be getting more excited about this than Bioshock Infinite. This just screams spiritual successor to Thief to me.

Glad it'll be broken up into area's / levels. Deus Ex, Thief, etc, all did that well, and that's my style preference over true open world.
