Just a wild guess but since Wii U is fully backwards compatible, Nintendo typically makes a profit off consoles from launch instead of selling at a loss and counting on old hardware to buoy profits, and the Wii market is largely viewed as dead anyway, I doubt you'll see posthumous support.
