The official RB "how many hours should it take me?" thread

From what I remember, Dragon Quest VIII is a rather long game mainly because of the large world map and random battles. Don't quote me on it, but it probably would take around 50 ish hours. I imagine that is standard for a longish RPG game? I'd have to go and look at an old save file to be certain.

DWVIII took me about 70-80 hours for the main quest, when I was finally done everything I was a little over 100. The game is pretty long, but not in a grueling way like 7 was.

If you don't opt to do any side quests you're looking at about 30 hours I'd say.

I just beat Ico for the first time. It took me just over 7 hours. I didn't use a FAQ or walkthrough, though I did have to check twice during a rather confusing part after I had wasted quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to proceed.

I play this game a lot. My final safe file is usually just a touch under thirty hours. Since the last boss is so epic and the ending is 21 minutes long I'd say I really spend almost 31 hours in the game. I use maps (I have an old official strategy guide from the 90s) which speeds things up, but I also spend a good deal of time magic grinding at the end of the game. It's probably unnecessary but I want all my characters learning Ultima/Life 3/Cure 3.

great idea for a thread. anyone have estimates for basic finishes to diablo 1 and resident evil 1? i'm really trying to get motivation to finish both of those and knowing how much more i have to go may help.

Depends on a lot. A virgin playthrough with no (or very few) guide references could take 5-10 hours. If you rely on guides a lot (edit: or if you don't get stuck very often) you will finish more towards the 5 hour mark. Once you know the game it can easily be beaten in 1-2 hours.
